On the corner of Bourke and Swanston streets in Melbourne there is an independent bookshop by the name of Reader's Feast. Other than that I like to go bush and scrounge through second hand bookshops. My favourite so far is Bookmark in Bendigo. Reply #22. Dec 24 10, 3:10 PM |

I'm with steelman86. There are books that I want to read but not necessarily own, and the public library serves my purposes then. Reply #27. Aug 26 11, 1:33 PM |

Amazon is not a "bookstore"...it's a website that sells (among other things) books. Powells in Seattle is probably the last of the real brick and mortar independent bookstores left. Border's will be closed shortly-all of them and all of Waldenbooks. Reply #28. Aug 26 11, 2:32 PM |

Amazon for me. I know it is an online store that sells just about everything but I started using it when it was'just' a bookstore. I am one of the sad gits that used it so much in the beginning thatthey sent me Christmas presents for quite afew years lol Reply #30. Sep 17 11, 8:10 AM |

mikeeagle1, yes, Tattered Cover. I visited Denver for the first time last summer and it was my first stop. I spent hours there and quite a lot of dollars. I love the library in our town, masses of English books, which isn't bad seeing as it is a regular town in Norway. Nothing beats browsing in a bookshop but I do love the Kindle/Amazon book-arriving-in-your-hand-within-a-minute-or-two. Reply #34. Apr 07 12, 11:31 AM |
