One of the songs in Arpeggionist's list, Y'rushalayim shel zahav, was a hit all over the world. (There may be others we've heard without realising!) Reply #121. May 26 11, 8:44 AM |

It's just occurred to me that I might have put "Erev shel shoshanim" on my list. I thought it was an old song, but I now see it may have been from the 1950s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unZkA3A2s7A (I'll leave my list as it is, just because I said I would. This is one of my favorite tunes, though.) Reply #122. May 26 11, 9:15 AM |

I echo Lochalsh's thanks. Job well done Mark. That is a great list of songs and I think it clearly demonstrates that a lot of FT members have an appreciation of fine music. Three of the songs in my personal top ten have made it onto this list. (Dylan, CS&N, The Who). I must admit I'm surprised that 'Stairway to Heaven', which regularly appears in the top ten of listener polls on radio stations, didn't make its way in here. Then again I'm not sure if anybody voted for it. Once again, well done and thanks Mark. Reply #129. May 29 11, 10:16 PM |
