Chris Cooper, Michael McKean, and Peter MacNicol are all extremely talented and underrated actors. You may know Chris Cooper from the award winning movie American Beauty. I think he shines on screen. Michael McKean is famous for starring in This Is Spinal Tap. I think he plays all of his roles to absolute perfection; I'll watch him in anything. Peter MacNicol has had many television roles, including 24 in recent years, but you may know him from the film Sophie's Choice. I think MacNicol is talented and always entertaining.

Andy Garcia is an underrated actor and I think that he really makes you feel his pain when he is in a dramatic part, like The Unsaid. Even in The Untouchables, his grief made you feel it was so real when Sean Connery was killed.
Tom Cruise is also underrated for his acting but is so believable in all his films. As in the hit man in Collateral and the drunken veteran of The American Civil War in The Last Samurai.
Harrison Ford is another one and he really makes you believe that his grief is real, especially in Patriot Games when his little daughter and wife were in that car crash.

I had to Google Larry Sullivan; I didn't recognize the name. I've seen some of the movies IMDB has him in, and he was on 24, so I must have seen him there too. He's adorable; I'll have to check out his talent in a movie sometime.

Two greatly underrated actors are Bill Pullman ('Ruthless People', 'Spaceballs', 'While You Were Sleeping', and 'Independence Day' are samples of his work) and Bill Paxton ('True Lies', 'Twister'. 'Aliens', 'Apollo 13'). They're not only underrated, they're both versatile and can run the gamut from comedy to action, sci-fi drama to tragedy. They're solid actors who never seem to be out of work.

I love Pax and Pull. Who wouldn't fall for Pullman in While You Were Sleeping; that's one of my favorite movies, and I love him in Spaceballs and Singles too. Apollo 13 is also one of my favorite movies. I thought Paxton was so great in that. And I love him in Twister and of course Weird Science. Thanks for mentioning the Bills!

Kevin Kline is another underrated actor. His body of work covers the entire acting waterfront! One of my favourite movies is 'Dave'. Kline was super in that.

Kevin Kline is an extremely talented actor. My favorite movie of his is I Love You To Death. And he was also really good in Life as a House and In & Out.

I don't know if they're considered underrated but I sure love watching anything that Gary Oldman and Tim Roth are in. The first time I saw both of them, they acted together in "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead." Loved the movie and ever since then everything either of them have done. Not always the films, but their acting skills.

Jeff Bridges is very good. He can play many different types of characters very well unlike a number of actors who are the "same guy" no matter what movie they are in like Jim Carey, Sly Stallone, etc.

Great choices. I agree Oldman, Roth, and Bridges are quite talented. If you like Gary see him in Murder in the First and True Romance. And see Jeff in The Vanishing.

I'm sorry, but how is Tom Cruise underrated? All I ever hear about is crap he's in, he's not even a good actor.

potc_rules128, I agree.

And I love Bob Hoskins; I saw him as Mario in the "Super Mario Brothers" movie as a child, and my sis and I thought he was so cool. My favorite of his movies is "Passed Away".

Aw! Great shout,Boxjaw! I had the pleasure of meeting Pete on a few occasions. He and his wife had a cottage in the next village to us. A great actor indeed.

Gary Oldman is great as is Gary Sinise (See Reindeer Games). Jeff Bridges is one of my all-time favorites too. I thought Dennis Quaid deserved at least an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Jerry Lee Lewis in "Great Balls of Fire".

Kevin Bacon who "earned" but did not receive an Oscar nomination for "Murder in the First". The same goes for Val Kilmer in "Tombstone" and Christian Bale in 'All the Little Animals"
