Subject: 1984 by George Orwell

I read this book first when I was still a kid, and re-read it several times since. I think it may have negatively impacted my view on the world, turning me into a quasi-paranoid conspiracy theorist.

Anyone else worry sometimes that this novel may have done the same to you? Or are you too busy worrying about domestic espionage?

He never contradicted that. Animal Farm and 1984 are clearly against totalitarianism. There's no democracy in them.

As a specialist on Orwell, I think it is beyond doubt that Orwell remained committed to socialism and a telling critic of totalitarianism.

Orwell, in his book "1984" predicted "Fake News" whereby the authoritarian regime changes the facts of history which are pumped out through the media and also makes things palatable by calling them false names - The Ministry of War being renamed "The Ministry of Peace for instance. Was he the first to predict fake news I wonder? I think so.
