The Swan River here in Western Australia. It is by far the most scenic and prettiest of the Australian Rivers and is our best kept secret....LOL Reply #24. Apr 12 16, 2:09 AM |

My favourite river is a small one flowing into the Rhine, called Erft. It's the river of my hometown, and special to me. Even if I never ever would do wild water kayak, which you can do on the river. Reply #26. Apr 12 16, 4:54 AM |

I have two, both of which are next or very near to the best cricket grounds in England. They are the River Tone in Somerset and the River Trent in Nottingham. Reply #27. May 21 17, 10:05 AM |

I'd say in Europe the nicest are possibly Danube or Rhine - I think both have extensive cruises along them . England's longest is the Severn , famous for its tidal bore when people surf along it for as far as they can . Saw the river ( Isar) in Munich flood a few years back when severe weather caused it to overflow , this river feeds into the Danube which then flooded major cities along its course - think it was 2013 . This was in early June - thought we'd be pretty assured good weather that time of year . Reply #28. May 21 17, 12:34 PM |

I have several rivers that I love. 1) The Afon Dyfi in Machynlleth, mid-Wales, where I spent many happy hours as a youngster, swimming, picknicking at Gravel Corner, where we also tickled trout and coooked them over a camp fire. Happy days. 2) The Wye, which flows through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Britain. My great-aunt and uncle owned a small hotel/pub on the banks of the Wye in Compton Abbedale in Gloucestershire. It was frequented by fisherman who wereafter the famed Wye salmon, surely the best salmon in the world! 3) The Bow River, which has its source inthe Rockies and flows through Calgary. I lived I Calgary for nine years and the beautiful Bow is truly the only thing I missed after making my escape to Winnipeg 62 years ago. 4) The five rivers in my now-hometown. The mighty Red River of the North and the placid Assiniboine are the two major rivers. The Red runs north and the Assiniboine rises in Saskatchwan and runs east through Manitoba. Both rivers were major trade routes for the indigenous peoples and for the voyageurs and Hudson's Bay men transporting furs. The other three rivers are the Seine, the LaSalle and the Brokenhead.
