Hi! As I said in the thread I created - not realising this blog existed, sorry - we have an unseasonably chilly spell of weather here in the UK. We should be seeing highs of 15-16C now but today it's just 7C and earlier showers fell as wet snow above 400m. I'm a big fan of thunderstorms so I was disappointed on Saturday evening when we just missed out on an evening storm by around 50 miles, it would've been the first of the year. Ah well! Reply #1183. Cold here as well in Sheffield, UK. My city is located in the county of South Yorkshire which is just north of central England (Midlands). It's cloudy, breezy and cool here with temperatures at 9.8C or 49.6F. No rain yet today but expecting light showers later courtesy of a weak cold front tracking south. Reply #1185. The last few days here have been similar with cold and clear starts with cloud streaming inland - a few isolated light showers in the mix too. Temperatures still below average with a max of 10.8C today, feeling colder than that with a moderate NNE breeze. Thankfully it'll be turning warmer by the weekend. Reply #1187. May 13 20, 8:44 AM |

That's some temperatures swing from your last two posts! We are warming up as well, though not quite to that degree yet. I'll start posting in Fahrenheit now as it'll embed my knowledge of conversions which was becoming a bit patchy. So today it has been dry with broken cloud and decent sunny spells. A high of 61F which isn't too spectacular but signs we may get close to the mid 70s by mid next week. Have a good weekend! Stephen Reply #1190. May 15 20, 10:40 AM |

As I'm a big storm fan I'm constantly hoping for big thunderstorms when any heat breaks down. It doesn't happen often enough! I'm sure big ranges in temperature from day to day can result in some spectacular storms for you. A meek day here today with plenty of cloud. I'm really looking forward to the warmth next week. Yes we can't ignore the negatives of such storms despite their beauty! I am fascinated by them and occasionally travel when I can to chase them - only really on days when a complex of storms is forecast rather than the usual weedy 'popcorn' type we often get. One thing on my bucket list is to book with a storm chasing tour group in the US and experience supercells for real. Reply #1195. May 17 20, 8:52 AM |

Wow that sounds thrilling and frightening in equal measure! It puts the thunderstorms I've chased into perspective haha. Today in Sheffield it is bright with quite milky skies thanks to extensive high cloud. 64*F currently with our warmth peaking on Wednesday when the mid 70s look likely to be achieved. Reply #1197. That's quite the deluge! I hope it has eased off and there hasn't been too much damage. It's very much the opposite here with a sunny day forecast with 68*F already at 9:30am BST and a forecasted high of 79*F. We've had a very dry April and May here in Sheffield (after a very wet winter). Reply #1199. May 20 20, 2:38 AM |
