Subject: The Weather Blog

This is the place to tell all of Fun Trivia what your weather is today or was yesterday. It doesn't have to be extreme, although extreme is...well, extreme, just tell us temp, precipitation, wind, lightning, hurricane, cyclone, monsoon, typhoon, tornado, flood, heat, cold, all of your weather related phenomena. Nothing is too mundane. We pray that it isn't too extreme, as in extremely dangerous!
I am a certified severe weather spotter here in SW Ohio. I would love to find out about weather around the FT World.

Thank you!

Welcome to The Weather Blog!

Tell us about the weather where you are, doesn't have to be extreme, safer that way.

Hi! As I said in the thread I created - not realising this blog existed, sorry - we have an unseasonably chilly spell of weather here in the UK. We should be seeing highs of 15-16C now but today it's just 7C and earlier showers fell as wet snow above 400m.

I'm a big fan of thunderstorms so I was disappointed on Saturday evening when we just missed out on an evening storm by around 50 miles, it would've been the first of the year. Ah well!

It got colder as the day got on. Currently it is 47*F or 8*C and cloudy.
For those new to the site, I am located in S.W.Ohio.

How is it where you are located?

Cold here as well in Sheffield, UK. My city is located in the county of South Yorkshire which is just north of central England (Midlands).

It's cloudy, breezy and cool here with temperatures at 9.8C or 49.6F. No rain yet today but expecting light showers later courtesy of a weak cold front tracking south.

The last few days here have been similar with cold and clear starts with cloud streaming inland - a few isolated light showers in the mix too. Temperatures still below average with a max of 10.8C today, feeling colder than that with a moderate NNE breeze.

Thankfully it'll be turning warmer by the weekend.

That's some temperatures swing from your last two posts!

We are warming up as well, though not quite to that degree yet. I'll start posting in Fahrenheit now as it'll embed my knowledge of conversions which was becoming a bit patchy.

So today it has been dry with broken cloud and decent sunny spells. A high of 61F which isn't too spectacular but signs we may get close to the mid 70s by mid next week.

Have a good weekend!

Stephen

Raining here now, not hard, temps in the upper 60sF. Heavy thunderstorms expected tonight through tomorrow afternoon.

Still sheltering in place, had to go to the hardware store this morning, they were busy. I imagine it's from people doing projects around the house, if you have to be home, might as well get busy.

Temperature swings are kind of the norm here. The old saying goes something like this, 'if you don't like the weather here, just wait a bit, it'll change.'

As I'm a big storm fan I'm constantly hoping for big thunderstorms when any heat breaks down. It doesn't happen often enough!
I'm sure big ranges in temperature from day to day can result in some spectacular storms for you.

A meek day here today with plenty of cloud. I'm really looking forward to the warmth next week.

We have a lot of thunderstorms here. I too, am a fan. My home has a covered porch that faces south. 90% of our thunderstorms roll in from the southwest, so I have a great view of them as they approach. Unfortunately, we also get our share of tornadoes here. I am a certified severe weather spotter, I have a code that I use when I see severe weather and I report that weather to our National Weather Service.

We have rain predicted for the next four days, some will be thunderstorms.

Yes we can't ignore the negatives of such storms despite their beauty!

I am fascinated by them and occasionally travel when I can to chase them - only really on days when a complex of storms is forecast rather than the usual weedy 'popcorn' type we often get.

One thing on my bucket list is to book with a storm chasing tour group in the US and experience supercells for real.

Dangerous hobby!

I've seen three up close and personal.
One of those was the 1974 Super outbreak, traveled up the hill, less than a mile from our house.
The second one, we got very little warning, it happened to bounce, and it went directly over the car that I was traveling in.
The third and most dangerous personally, was a waterspout, that I was less than one hundred yards from, out in the Gulf of Mexico.

Wow that sounds thrilling and frightening in equal measure! It puts the thunderstorms I've chased into perspective haha.

Today in Sheffield it is bright with quite milky skies thanks to extensive high cloud. 64*F currently with our warmth peaking on Wednesday when the mid 70s look likely to be achieved.

Heavy rains have been pounding the local area in the past 24 hours. We have received over 5 inches of rain, and more in some locations. Flooding of creeks and streams has started. The river flooding will follow.

That's quite the deluge! I hope it has eased off and there hasn't been too much damage.

It's very much the opposite here with a sunny day forecast with 68*F already at 9:30am BST and a forecasted high of 79*F.

We've had a very dry April and May here in Sheffield (after a very wet winter).

Cloudy and cooler today, but thankfully the rain has subsided. I live on a hill, so no damage here, but there are plenty of flood damaged homes in the area.
