Subject: The No Drama Blog

Posted by: terraorca

We can talk movies, music, weather, sports, news, achievements, basically anything permitted by Fun Trivia Blog rules.
There is no drama permitted on this blog, no one is allowed to trash talk anyone else.

Probably beats the heck out of that goofy fake stuff, ay, Mark? The best part about that fake stuff is what goes on outside the ring, like namely all that trash-talking they do. Never exactly made a habit of watching that crap, but I've stumbled on it a time or two and took a few minutes to sit there and be amused with it. :-p

It's not predetermined who's going to win in the wrestling I watched tonight.

That being said, that goofy fake stuff, is fake and goofy, but they still have to be tremendous athletes to do what they do.

Oh, of course, that is quite correct. They do some very athletic moves that have to be perfectly coordinated or someone could be seriously injured. It's just all a big show like you would see at a circus or lots of other places. I think it's a lot more interesting to see fighters squaring off with each other for real. Then all the kid games and the circus acts get thrown right out the window and the real throwdown begins.

A Duel is not always fair.
If a Duel doesn't match the same question and answer with each Duel opponent, it can't be a fair match. If one duelist has a sword and his opponent has a pistol, it is not a fair and equal match.
Knockout, I'm told, is a fair and equal match.

What do you think?

What if one Dueler had a 24 inch long sword and the other had a 24.5 inch long sword? Can two distinct swords ever be *exactly* the same? Where do you draw the line? Even in Knockout, where the questions *are* the same, the order of the answers may well be different. One player may have the correct answer in the #1 position five times (the statistical average for a 20 question game), but the other player may have the correct answer in the #1 position 10 times by sheer luck, allowing him to answer quicker than the first player and thus get a higher score. My point is, this "everything must be exactly the same" will always break down if the scrutiny is close enough.

In the particular case of the FT Duels, giving two players who aren't matched until *after* both have played is a technical impossibility unless you are going to give *every* player of that game the same questions, in which case you open up a huge hole for cheating. (A real concern, by the way, since it is the reason the whole penalty system had to put in place for backing out or losing a connection in an incomplete game.) The matching process for Knockout is completely different from Duels, as it is set beforehand.

I never said that it's possible, I only said that it's not always fair. Are you disagreeing with that statement, or my logic that I used to reach that conclusion, or just my weakly constructed example, taken from watching too many old movies.

I made the points I wanted to make. I won't characterize motivations. As this is your blog, I will leave it now. I am sure there are others who agree completely with you.

I wasn't looking for agreement, I was seeking discussion, which you were kind enough to provide. Thank you Brian!

My 88 year old Mother-in-law took a spill yesterday, she is resting in the hospital undergoing tests.
I will be on and off here, as needed there.

She has been transferred to a rehab facility.

She is progressing, but I fear that she has reached a new lower normal. Her conversational skills have digressed, and her attention span has waned.
She seems comfortable in her surroundings and she is well cared for in the facility.
All things considered, I suppose, all is well.

Profile says last seen 29 Jan 20.

So he logged in today. This is the no drama blog so better not say any more than that eh? I don’t think his silence is by choice.

Hahaha! No Drama.

Didn't I send you a note right after you first posted saying that I saw sadwings played some game that I was just playing?

You already know the answer to your question.
