I probably should have left this post to a British person, but, even as an American, I deeply admired the Queen. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna24582 Reply #1. Sep 08 22, 12:25 PM |

I think many people around the world admired her, and will be saddened by the news. It comes as a shock, even it's not unexpected. RIP Queen Elizabeth Reply #2. Sep 08 22, 12:31 PM |

In 1952, when King George VI, I was just 12 years old, but I remember it vividly. Guess at that young age I never expected or thought that I would live through the entire reign of Queen Elizabeth II...........but I have. RIP Your Majesty and thank you for all the years. It is tradition in UK, at a time like this to utter the continuity words, "The Queen is dead. Long Live the King" Reply #3. Sep 08 22, 12:48 PM |

To me, it is the end of an era. She was already Queen when I was born. My condolences go to the people of the UK. She will not be easy to replace. Reply #4. Sep 08 22, 12:51 PM |

I cannot put into words how much our beloved Queen will be missed. She has been a wonderful monarch. A lady of much wisdom and grace but who showed she could have a lot of fun too. There have been some lovely pictures of her on the TV today. She will be for Charles a hard act to follow. RIP Queen Elizabeth 11. Reply #5. Sep 08 22, 1:29 PM |

Thank you for opening the thread, Brian. It's a sad day indeed as we mourn the loss of our sovereign lady, the Queen. She was 21 when she pledged lifelong service to her people in what was then the empire, and she meant it; to her lifelong meant exactly that and she kept her word. Now we have a new king. For those who don't know, tomorrow there will be a formal proclamation of his accession (which has already taken place) by something called the Accession Council and as has been said, by tradition, it will include the words "The Queen is dead, Long Live the King!". May Her Majesty rest in peace. Reply #6. Sep 08 22, 2:10 PM |

I posted the following message on the team message board in June to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and feel it is fitting to repeat these sentiments on the sad occasion of her death: "I am extremely proud of the manner in which Queen Elizabeth II has devoted herself to both Britain and the Commonwealth throughout 70 years on the throne. Whilst our government and a small minority of her close family have at times displayed a complete lack of integrity, she has remained true to a promise made in 1947 whilst on tour of South Africa, when she vowed to devote her entire life to the service of the Crown and Commonwealth in a speech she made in Cape Town when she was just 21. Here in Britain we are currently celebrating her Platinum Jubilee during a four day bank holiday weekend, an occasion which is unlikely to ever be repeated. I have no idea whether this achievement is newsworthy in other countries throughout the world, so trust you will excuse my enthusiasm for recognizing such a role model during these difficult times." With messages of condolence flooding in from leaders around the world, it now seems clear that she has been universally recognised as a beacon of light during these troubled times. R.I.P. Reply #7. Since I first saw the news I was devastated, I have always loved her all my life, she's been the Queen since before I was born, I feel like I lost my Mother all over again and she will never be replaced, she was authentic and unique. God Save the Queen, Forever! Reply #8. Sep 08 22, 10:34 PM |

I had the pleasure of meeting Queen Elizabeth around 30 years ago and she was gracious, kind and considerate to myself and my children. It was a day none of us will ever forget. A truly unique lady and an irreplaceable monarch. Reply #9. Sep 09 22, 1:05 AM |

Her Majesty became queen the year I was born. Who would have thought she would live 'til I turned 70. Simply amazing woman, universally admired, who will be so very much missed. Thanks for the mini badge opportunity in her honor, Terry. Reply #17. Sep 13 22, 1:44 PM |
