Subject: **The FunTrivia Collection**

Every once in a while, here in the Author Lounge, we have some ambitious projects that stretch the limits and capabilities of our quiz-writers in ways that haven't been done. We've put our authors through Races, Gauntlets, Commissions, and Challenges of all sorts. Now it's time for us to create 'The Collection'.

The premise is simple: Create a collection of quizzes-- a capsule collection if you will-- that takes simple premises and executes them with diverse ideas, strong writing, and an eye for featured play. We want to create a set of quizzes that touch on trivia accessibly and with care. And we want to make it a big collection.

  • The Collection will consist of a number of rounds, one at a time, and each round will require that five quizzes be written.

  • Each round must feature five different authors, and those authors are not eligible to complete the proceeding round.

  • Only when all five quizzes are written and placed online will the subsequent round be posted.

  • All quizzes must be created on new templates and they can not count for other active challenges occurring in the Author Lounge unless otherwise specified.

This is a group effort-- we're all working together to make this collection work. Remember: the key to this one is accessibility. We're aiming to create quizzes that anyone can play!

    CHALLENGE #1
To kick things off, let’s start at the very beginning. For this challenge, authors must submit quizzes with titles that begin with the word ‘FIRST’ or contain the word ‘FIRSTS’. Someone’s gotta be the one to begin it all, right?

    2. First, Identify the City - Upstart3
    3. First Steps to European History - JanIQ

    5. On Friday the First of Summerfilth - Bernie73

Nope-- that wouldn't be challenging. ;)

I would recommend encouraging some ideas. Perhaps people don't know where to start. What ideas would you like to see authors pursue? Maybe someone's interest might be piqued by those ideas.

For context, there's no intent to skip over any given challenge or skirt the existing rules. The goal is for these sets of quizzes to have diverse authorship, broad topicality, and few ties to other challenges where possible. Seems like the best criteria for badgelet viability. ;)

Some challenges will be harder than others, but like I said, this one's a team effort.

Well, I think it would be nice to see something pre-1860 in the decades. I mean life existed before the American Civil War era. And I being from the US really know primarily about the US but it would be nice to also know what was going on in decades around the world in earlier times especially.

I am not eligible to write for this one, but the 1810s have a lot of significant wars, not to mention literary and musical events. And the 1815 London Beer Flood.

This probably won't work, but I'll ask anyway.

Could I write a quiz on a decade of books being published (in the Literature category).

    Thanks in advance!

The challenge notes that it requires quizzes be submitted to the History category.

Oh, that may be my fault I think I told you it was entertainment because I was thinking about the decade thing. I apologize. (to VBookWorm)

It would be nice to get things in Africa, Australia, Asia, and Antarctica (probably not much there but I don't really know much about it) it seems the A continents don't get as much coverage as the other ones.

I heard the 1980s was a great decade and I am not saying that cause its when i was born. Come to think of it the 1880s was also a great decade too. My hero Helen Keller was born in 1880 just thought I’s share that to move this up again and mention some decades.

That would be amazing-- we've stuck ourselves at this one and there are more challenges to come. :)

I am amazed we are still stuck here considering all the decades that have done by now in history and we only need two more to be written on....

Maybe Quiz-Writing Month in November will push people in this direction.

Can we do the 2020s or is that too recent?

There is already a 2020s History subcategory, so I figure it'd work.

I'd be interested in doing a 1923 quiz if that would be suitable, but I'm not very fast. What is the deadline?

There is no explicit deadline. The next challenge will not unlock until the previous one is clearer out.
