Has nobody really mentioned George Carlin? If you did, then I apologize; I skim read a lot.
Jerry Seinfeld is brilliant just because he's so great at observational comedy. Such simple stuff, but he views it in such a different perspective he's magnificent.
I'd be a fool not to love Steve Martin. Undoubtedly one of the funniest men ever. He's just hilarious.

Conan O'Brien is the best comic on TV today.
I think the funniest of all time were Jonathan Winters (in his prime), followed by George Carlin, Bob Newhart, Red Skelton, and of course, last but not least, Jerry Lewis.

Steven Wright. He's brilliant. So is Ross Noble.
Billy Connolly, Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
I still laugh at Seinfeld when it's on.. not that there's anything wrong with that!

Victoria Wood is a genius. I love her work. I also like Bill Bailey a hell of a lot, and also Dylan Moran. "This song is all about ME". Yes it is.

Lemmy-you are on to something. I forgot about Redd-he was raunchy, but he was really good.

Steven Wright, Billy Connolly, Robin Williams and Jasper Carrot are all excellent standups but the best is the late great Bill Hicks.
