The Itaipu dam is located in Parana (my home state). Paraguay and Brazil share the electricity that is produced in this dam. Since Paraguay can't use nearly all that electricity, it sells about 46 of its 50 percent of electricity back to Brazil, and gets a hefty check from that. I have visited the dam, and it is quite astonishing. It has 17 turbines to make electricity, and for the majority of the time, all of the turbines are used.
