Young All Stars, Kid Commandos, Dial H for Hero

"Captain Planet and the Planeteers" was a short lived comic book that was produced in conjunction with the the long-running television show. The comic series, published by Marvel Comics, only lasted twelve issues. Difficulty: Hard.

 

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Five for Fighting, Teen Titans

Peter Parker was visiting a science exhibit when a radioactive spider bit him. Soon after Peter began to realize he had spider-like strength and the ability to stick to walls. As a science wiz he designed his own wrist mounted barrels that shot out spider webs. Peter Parker did not become an active crime fighter though until the day he saw, but did not stop, a robber. The robber shot his Uncle Ben, his adoptive father. Parker donned the mask of Spider-man and sought out his father's killer. He learned "with great power, comes great responsibility."

In human form, Peter Parker is a newspaper photographer. It becomes his cover because he also takes pictures and publishes pictures of Spiderman for the newspaper he works for. Spiderman lives at 175th Ave, and faithfully watches New York with his spider senses, swinging from webs to skyscrapers and buildings. Difficulty: Average.

Superman does not need any introduction, and his civilian name (Clark Kent), his identity as a reporter, his love for Lois Lane, his arch enemy (Lex Luthor) etc. is too widely known. However, did you know why Lex started hating Superman?
In "Adventure Comics" issue #271, it was stated that Superman and Lex were friends as teenagers and together built a laboratory. An erroneous experiment caused a fire in the lab which was extinguished easily by Superman's super breath. However, the resultant mixture of chemicals caused permanent hair loss for Lex. He got mad, accused Superman of jealousy and blamed him for the failure of the experiment, vowing that he would get even. Guess the motives were really strange in the Silver Age of comics. Difficulty: Very Easy.

 

Spider-Man, Batman, Red Hulk

Following that arachnid encounter, Peter Parker went on to an illustrious career as Spiderman. Perhaps surprisingly, Spiderman is a relatively recent creation in the world of superheroes, brought to us for the first time as recently as 1962, by the great Stan Lee.

This was a three issue mini series which was issued in May and June pf 2003. Written by Judd Winick, who also wrote "Green Lantern", with art from Ale Garza who worked on "Gen 13" and Trevor Scott who worked on "Black Sun". Difficulty: Hard.

 

A Secret Agent?, Hell Freezes Over, The Borderlands

Nearly impervious to most physical attacks, Superman is actually quite a bit tougher than steel. Difficulty: Very Easy.

 

The Red Redeemer, The Caped Crusader, The Masked Avenger

Conner Hawke is the son of Oliver Queen. When Oliver died Conner took over his Green Arrow identity. Now that Oliver has come back from the dead they are both Green Arrow. Difficulty: Average.

Shrunk by the evil villain Brainiac before Krypton exploded, this city is kept by Superman in the Fortress of Solitude in hope of someday reversing the shrinking effects and freeing its residents to live a normal life on Earth or elsewhere. Difficulty: Average.

Good ol' horn head himself. Difficulty: Very Easy.

 

Spiderman, Batman, Superman

The Shadow is best known as Cranston in his pulp and radio adventures(the other names are from comics, as if you didn't know!) Difficulty: Very Easy.

As Freddy, his leg would remain without full function, but when he uttered "Captain Marvel" he would be turned into a super powered teen with full use of both legs. Difficulty: Hard.

 

Bill Hill Batson aka Lieutenant Marvel, Pinkerton Butler aka Pinky the Whiz Kid, Mickey Malone aka Phantom Eagle

Roommates at Columbia Law who go on to open their own practice as "Nelson and Murdock," life is sometimes difficult for Foggy because he doesn't know Matt's true identity, other times life is hard because he does! Foggy is often Matt's voice of reason, calling him out when he's being irrational and though the two might not aways see eye-to-eye or work together, there is an undeniable bond. Difficulty: Hard.

 

Sandy Newton, Sunny Benson, Cloudy Butler

For a while, Peter Parker took Andy under his wing, not only in the scientific world, where he ensured many tests were done to measure the extent of his abilities and what other ways he may have been affected by the particles, but also as a sidekick to Spider-Man. Unfortunately, Alpha's powers were a little difficult to control, at times, resulting in casualties and unexpected destruction.

Alpha had the ability to transform cosmic energy into energy blasts, super strength, super speed, force fields, telekinesis, matter manipulation, and flight... but just one of them at a time.

He made his first appearance in "The Amazing Spider-Man" #692 (August, 2012), and was named as a combination of the two actors that had played Spider-Man in the theaters at the time (Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire). Difficulty: Hard.

The "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" television show was spun into comics several times. Hamilton Comics, Marvel Comics and Paper Kutz have all released various editions between 1994 and 2015. Difficulty: Hard.

 

Teen Titans, Sinister Six, The Planeteers

American scientist Doctor Myron MacLain was asked by the United States government to create an impenetrable metal to use for the building of tanks during World War II. Doctor Myron MacLain created an alloy of a fictional metal called vibranium and steel. Captain America's shield was created using Doctor Myron MacLain's newly created alloy. Difficulty: Hard.

Captain America was a part of the super-soldier project during the Second World War. His shield, containing Vibranium, is very resistant due to Vibranium having the property of absorbing and releasing kinetic energy. His shield works for him to combat lethal weapons, and he too works for S.H.I.E.L.D. Difficulty: Hard.

 

Titanium, Platinum, Polymer

They injected him, and exposed him to "Vita-Rays" and that's how they made the rejected recruit into Captain America. He was unique, since the scientist who perfected the process was assassinated by a Nazi spy. Captain America was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby in 1941, well before words like cyborg and nanobot entered the language.
Difficulty: Hard.

The Fantastic Four debuted in "The Fantastic Four" #1 (November 1961). The original team consisted of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Susan Storm (Invisible Girl), Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Benjamin Grimm (the Thing).

Dr. Charles Xavier is better known as Professor X of the X-men. Dr. Donald Blake was Thor's alter-ego, and Dr. Henry Pymm was the original Ant-Man. Difficulty: Easy.

The TV shows cover the adventures of a young "Superman". Bruce Wayne is of coures "Batman", Ryan Acher is from "Micronauts" and Al Simmons is "Spawn". Difficulty: Very Easy.

Parts of Superman's homeworld of Krypton, now destroyed, are occasionally discovered and used against him. Only the radioactive green material from the planet's core can damage Superman. Difficulty: Very Easy.

Alan Scott was the original identity of Green Lantern during the "Golden Age". Others to be Green Lantern have included Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner. Difficulty: Hard.

 

The Flash, Hawkman, The Atom

Test pilot Hal Jordan was the 1st Green Lantern in the comics I enjoyed. To this day, I remember what he had to say to recharge his power ring as follows: 'In the darkest day, or the blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's light.' Difficulty: Average.

'The Phantom' first appeared in American newspapers in 1936. Difficulty: Hard.

 

Rock Throne, King Throne, Phantom Throne

Two of the ladies are comics again, the third was played by Rosalind Russell in Howard Hawks' classic 'His Girl Friday'. Difficulty: Hard.

 

Lois Lane, Vicki Vale, Hildy Johnson

Alicia is the daughter of the Fantastic Four foe, the Puppet Master. She is also a world renowned sculptress. Difficulty: Average.

 

Sharon Ventura, Crystalia Amaquelin, Lyja Storm

Frenchie and Spector met as mercenaries and though he has no superpowers, Frenchie is a skilled fighter and a qualified pilot. He even designed and built the Mooncopter. Difficulty: Hard.

 

Patrick "Paddy" O'Reilly, Augustus "Jerry" Borscht, Hercules "Limey" Cartwright

Batman took in his ward, Dick Grayson, who was the son of a family of acrobats, and whose parents were murdered by a crime boss. Dick then became Batman's chief sidekick, Robin, and the leader of the Teen Titans and Outsiders. Dick/Robin adopts the Nightwing identity when filling in for an injured Batman. Nightwing was associated with Superman, as well.

Nightwing made his first appearance in "Superman" #158 (January, 1963). Difficulty: Very Easy.

 

Teenman, Scarecrow, Flyboy

The original and new Fantastic Four teams joined forces with the Mole Man to defeat the Skrulls. Difficulty: Hard.

 

Force Works, Heroes for Hire, Wrecking Crew

Created in 1984 by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the ninja turtles were actually a riff on another comic book, "Daredevil".

The joke was that when the toxic ooze hit Matt Murdock in his comic, some slipped down into the sewer and covered a few turtles. That joke went on to make hundreds of millions of dollars across all media platforms. Difficulty: Easy.

 

The Superfriends, The Artists Guild, The A-Team

The superhero known as Superman from Krypton gained many superpowers once he moved to Earth from his home planet. Superman possessed X-ray vision, the ability to see through all solid objects except for the element lead. Superman's enemies would use lead to hide themselves or a wide array of objects. Difficulty: Easy.

Hulk's alter ego is named Bruce Banner. His abilities include immense strength, high jumping, resistance to mind control and a strong regeneration/healing factor. There's no limit to his strength as his strength increases with increase in his rage. Difficulty: Very Easy.

 

Thor, Vision, Falcon

He is, of course, Superman. He was introduced in 1932, by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and was by many accounts, the first truly "super" hero. His backstory has evolved over the years, and details vary, but he always comes from Krypton, under the giant red star known as Rao.
Difficulty: Very Easy.

 

Xenon, Neon, Radon

Doug Ramsey, code name Cypher, first appeared in "New Mutants" vol. 1 #13 (March 1984). He later became more active with the team when he and Warlock learned to merge into one entity called Doug-lock.

Warlock was a techno-organic alien who joined the New Mutants. Samuel Guthrie was Cannonball, one of the original team members. Rusty Collins was a pyrokinetic who originally worked with the X-terminators. Difficulty: Hard.

The first comic with Lara Croft was "Tomb Raider/Witchblade Special", which was issued in December of 1997. Which was a one-shot mail in comic that came in four different covers. Difficulty: Very Easy.

 

Darkness, G.I. Joe, Midnight Nation

Magic powers are not among the powers The Man of Steel boasts. In fact, magic can be disruptive to Superman's powers. Difficulty: Very Easy.

 

Flight, Superbreath, Super strength

Unfortunately, both Stephanie and Jason were killed but since death is not always permanent in comics, you never know. Difficulty: Hard.
