The Univrsity of Miami was established in 1926. The prestigious private university has been the home school to a number of famous celebrity alumni. The school's football team won five NCAA championships between 1984 and 2002.

Linebacker Ray Lewis was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2018, and graduated from Miami in 1995. Ray went on to a NFL Hall of Fame career playing middle linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson played defensive tackle at Miami, but is best known for his career in the World Wrestling Federation and his many movie credits. Between 2019 and 2021, Dwayne Johnson was the highest paid movie actor in Hollywood.

Olympic diver Greg Louganis won four gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics. He attended the University of Miami from 1979 to 1980 and graduated from the University of California in Irvine. He was inducted into the University of Miami Hall of Fame for his athletic achievements.

Ray Liotta, best known for "Goodfellas" in 1990, graduated in 1978. While at the University of Miami, Ray studied acting. Sylvester Stallone attended the university before writing his script for "Rocky". While at Miami, Sylvester working on his acting craft performing at The Ring on campus.

In the field of politics, Marco Rubio got his degree from Miami School of Law in 1996. He graduated with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1996. He was appointed Secretary of State in 2025. Kayleigh McEnany was the White House press secretary in 2020 and a prominent television personality. Kayleigh attended the University of Miami Law School prior to heading to Harvard. While at Miami, she won a scholarship for being in the top 1% of her class.

Musicians Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias, and Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane all attended the ACC school prior to their recording careers. Gloria not only graduated from Miami, but has become a major donor to the school. She got a BA degree in psychology and minored in French in college. Enrique Iglesias and Grace Slick did not graduate from the University of Miami, but each did attend classes at the school. Enrique studied business in college, but dropped out when his music career took off. Grace attended school from 1958 to 1959, and majored in art studies.

Singer Jimmy Buffett went to Auburn. Quarterback Dan Marino attended the University of Pittsburgh. Tom Petty didn't attend college, but grew up in Gainesville, home of the University of Florida. Burt Reynolds is one of the most famous alumni of Florida State and even played football at the university. Tiger Woods famously went to Stanford University and proudly wears their red school clothes. Paris Hilton did not attend college and graduated high school with a GED.
