Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Austin Powers movie, third in the series

Answer: Goldmember

The third Austin Powers movie was released in 2002 and featured Mike Myers in the title role of Austin Powers, a British spy. The Austin Powers movies are spoofs of James Bond movies and "Goldmember" is a rather raunchy spoof of "Goldfinger", the third James Bond movie starring Sean Connery, which was released in 1964.

A FunTrivia "Gold Member" is a premium account holder.
2. A slice of gateau

Answer: Piece of cake

Gateau is the French word for cake - "piece of cake' is also an idiom meaning something very easy to do.

The "Piece of Cake" game is the easiest hourly game on FunTrivia where speed matters just as much as knowledge if you'd like to win your division.
3. American film series starring Tom Cruise

Answer: Mission Impossible

The series released its first movie "Mission: Impossible" in 1996 and stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, an agent of the fictional IMF (Impossible Missions Force). The spy films are based on the 1966 TV series, "Mission: Impossible".

"Mission Impossible" is also a difficult FunTrivia challenge where players must complete 120 quizzes with the words "impossible" or "obscure" in the title.
4. In folklore, buried where the end of the rainbow touches the Earth

Answer: Pot of Gold

According to Irish legend, mythical shoemakers called leprechauns buried a "pot of gold" where the rainbow touches the Earth.

"Pot of Gold" is also a FunTrivia daily game with a different topic for every day of the week.
5. A lifeline in the game show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire"

Answer: Fifty Fifty

The game show has been translated into many languages; the classic format features 15 questions of increasing difficulty. If a contestant is able to answer all fifteen, they will win a million pounds (or dollars). Each question has four possible options and the contestant has three lifelines: "Ask the audience", where the audience votes on the correct answer, "Phone a friend", where the contestant may phone one person for help, and "Fifty-Fifty", where the contestant can eliminate two wrong answers, leaving one right and one wrong answer.

Similarly to the game show, the "Fifty Fifty" hourly game on FunTrivia features 15 questions, each of which have only two options. You can play one of three variants, "Easy", "Intermediate", and "Difficult".
6. 2006 Christopher Nolan movie starring Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale

Answer: The Prestige

The movie follows two magicians that are competing for audiences and to complete an elusive magic trick; it contains an exciting twist ending. The title of the movie refers to the third and final stage of a magic trick: "the prestige", where the magicians gets to bask in the audience applause and glory.

"Prestige" is a FunTrivia metric used to measure players' progress in various sections of the site, including quizzes, hourly games, and authoring contributions.
7. Multisport race

Answer: Triathlon

The triathlon is an Olympic-event race that includes swimming, cycling, and running. It is considered one of the most gruelling physical endeavours. A more extreme version, called the "Iron Man" triathlon, can take over ten hours to complete.

On FunTrivia, every player who participates in the three hourly games: "Easy", "Mixed", and "Hard", will get a "triathlon" score that can be used to rank players.
8. Elite Persian heavy infantry unit

Answer: Immortal

The title was given by Herodotus to a corps of 10,000 soldiers of the Persian army; the number was always kept as exactly 10,000 men and every sick, injured, or dead member was immediately replaced by another - this is the reason they were given the moniker "immortal".

In the FunTrivia Global Challenge, the tenth and highest division that can be reached is "The Immortals". Maybe one day I'll get there :)
9. Used by clairvoyants

Answer: Crystal Ball

Crystal balls are props used by fortune tellers as they "look into the future" - the transparency of the sphere functions as an aesthetic medium for "gazing into the unknown".

The FunTrivia "Crystal Ball" hourly is a word-guessing game that takes more skill as the hour progresses, more clues are given, and wrong guesses by other players are displayed.
10. Resistance, fortitude, persistence

Answer: Endurance

In biology, endurance refers to an organism's ability to exert large amounts of energy without fatigue or death. Humans, for instance, have excellent long-distance running endurance.

"Endurance" is also a FunTrivia badge that one can earn by scoring 30,000 points in one day. The "Tier 7" upgrade of this badge requires a whopping 75,000 points in one day. When the badge was first introduced, the winner needed to be the highest scoring player on the site to earn it.
