2. What do the motion pictures "Eddie the Eagle" (2015), "Hot Dog ... the Movie" (1984) and "Sun Valley Serenade" (1941) have in common?

Answer: skiing

Based on the true story of British ski jumper Michael "Eddie" Edwards, "Eddie the Eagle" (his nickname) relates his unlikely pursuit of Olympic gold. For him, success is reaching the point where he was allowed to represent Great Britain at the Calgary Olympics in 1988.

In "Hot Dog ... the Movie," a young freestyle skier attempts to compete in Squaw Valley. The film is raucous, teen-oriented, politically incorrect (it features a race called the "Chinese Downhill"), and stars "Playboy" magazine's Playmate of the Year for 1982, Shannon Tweed.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra sponsors a European orphan who turns out to be a very grown-up Sonja Henie in "Sun Valley Serenade." John Payne and Milton Berle star, at a hotel and on the slopes of Sun Valley. Dorothy Dandridge's recording of "Chattanooga Choo Choo" was nominated for an Oscar for Best Song.

Answer: Wonder Woman

Hooray for Girl Power! "Wonder Woman" (2017) seemed to exceed all expectations about its success - in no small consideration due to the work of director, Patty Jenkins, and the performance of actress, Gal Gadot. During its first weekend it became the biggest single-day gross for a woman-directed film to that date (02 June 2017). Gadot and her co-star, Chris Pine who portrayed Capt. Steve Trevor, were given positive reviews universally for their work in the film, as was Jenkins (as director). Additional positive feedback was given to the musical score and the action scenes. Based on its success there was a sequel scheduled to be released in the summer 2020.

5. Who played Alvin York in the movie, "Sergeant York"?

Answer: Gary Cooper

"Sergeant York" was made when World War II was raging in Europe. The movie was based on a World War I memoir by Alvin York who had always said his uniform wasn't for sale. He finally agreed to the movie based on the condition that Gary Cooper play him.

At first Cooper turned down the role but later agreed when York himself appealed to the actor. Cooper won his first of two Academy Awards for his portrayal of York. Due to his age and a hip injury, Cooper was too old and unfit to serve in WWII. He said that the film was his way of contributing to the cause. Cooper won his second Oscar for his role as Marshal Will Kane in "High Noon." He died in 1961, age 60.
