Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Three zloty. Three lousy zloty. And there are people here making millions."

Answer: Henryk

Henryk was complaining about the fact they were so poor when the rich Jews didn't do anything to help. Henryk's job was that of selling books, and he had sold only one copy of Dostoevsky's "The Idiot" that day. Wladyslaw asked him if he sold anything, and Henryk started calling his meager earnings of three zloty "lousy", and went on to list the bribery and smuggling that the richer Jews did, blaming them for not helping poorer people.
2. "Henryk, don't say things like that. God forbid, God forbid."

Answer: Mother

At the beginning of the film, Wladyslaw was working at the radio station when Warsaw started being bombed, and his family was unsure of whether he survived or not. When he came home, his sisters and parents were relived, but his brother Henryk said that if he had been killed, the authorities would have known where to take his body. Mother replied with the answer quoted in the question text.
3. "What would they want with a table like this?"

Answer: Father

The family was deciding where to hide their money from the Germans, and Father's suggestion was boring a hole in the table and putting the money there. Henryk argued that it was a bad place because the Germans could confiscate the table and take the money away. Father replied with the answer stated in the question text and then ripped the wood of the top of the table, taking away the last bit of value.
4. "We could hide the money under the flower pot."

Answer: Halina

This one is also part of the money-hiding scenario. After what Father did to the table, Halina suggested (quoted in question text) hiding the money under a flowerpot. They ended up hiding their gold watch under the flowerpot and stuffing the money in Father's violin.
5. "Let's just hope that Henryk and Halina will be better off."

Answer: Regina

While Wladyslaw, Mother, Father, and Regina were sent off to be deported to concentration camps, Henryk and Halina were allowed to stay and work. Regina expressed her feelings by wishing her brother and sister would survive (quoted in question text). Henryk and Halina went with their family because they wanted to, and Wladyslaw ended up staying because a Jewish policeman saved him.
6. "They bombed us. We're off the air."

Answer: Wladyslaw

Henryk was tuning the radio for news, and Wladyslaw misunderstood what he was doing and said "They bombed us. We're off the air." Henryk crudely replied "Warsaw's not the only radio station." The news said that France would be joining forces with Poland.
7. "Ah, more Jewish police!"

Answer: Henryk

Itzak Heller, a friend of the family's, was a Jewish policeman. Heller was trying to get Henryk and Wladyslaw to become Jewish policeman as well, but they refused. Jewish policeman were young Jewish men who basically carried out the Germans' dirty work in exchange for payment. Sarcastically, Henryk said "Ah, more Jewish police!" because he felt they didn't need anymore.
8. "Look, look, if I'm going to die, I prefer to die in my own home, same thing."

Answer: Wladyslaw

The Szpilman family was packing up to leave Warsaw to move somewhere safer. Wladyslaw protested (quoted in the question text), and convinced them all to stay in Warsaw. I'm sure the news that France would join forces with Poland helped convince them as well.
9. "Has anyone seen my hat with the wide brim?"

Answer: Regina

When they were packing to leave Warsaw, Regina simply asked where her hat was, because she obviously was going to take it with her. Right after she asked, Wladyslaw came home, and the film never revealed where her hat was.
10. "I used it for packing."

Answer: Halina

The daily paper contained news that was the reason the family was leaving Warsaw, and Wladyslaw hadn't read it yet, so Regina went looking for it to show him. Halina revealed that she used it for packing, presumably for something delicate.
