Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Dewey Finn's enthusiasm just isn't appreciated by his band mates. When he gets canned from the band, his ability to make a living is dramatically altered; he owes his roommates back rent and what is he to do? After he answers a call offering a job to his roommate, he finds the answer. He agrees to take the job as a substitute teacher at a private school while posing as his friend. How hard can that be? Well, he really doesn't know what to do with the students until he discovers that some of them are very talented musicians. Maybe they can form a band to compete against his old mates in the upcoming Battle of the Bands? Yeah, that will show them! But the students in his class are fifth graders who don't know anything about rock music. He is going to have to work harder than he thinks. Dewey finds out rather quickly that in order to make his plan work, all of the class members - not just the band members - need to feel like they have important roles. Everyone else contributes their special skills and becomes a roadie, groupie, security person, techie, or costume designer.

Ned is Dewey's roommate and friend, but he is totally controlled by his overbearing girlfriend. He has apparently given up his dream to be a musician because she has demanded that he do so. Instead, he makes a living as a substitute teacher. By the end of the movie, however, Ned figures out what is really important - rock music and chasing his dreams.

Rosalie Mullins seems to be way too scatterbrained to be the principal of an exclusive private school, but she somehow has the students scared to death of her and manages to keep the teachers in line too. Of course, her job does not allow her to be much a free spirit! When one of the staff members tells Dewey about Roz's love of Stevie Nicks, he uses that information to get close to her, and talks her into letting his class take a field trip to what turns out to be the Battle of the Bands competition. The thing is that deep down inside Principal Roz loves rock music!

Summer is the class factotum, a strong leader and enforcer who is very concerned about good marks and class procedures. She isn't sure that the band thing is a good idea, but auditions as a singer anyway. It turns out that she can't sing a note, but don't worry! The band needs a manager, and Summer does have the skill to do that. When the band is turned down for an audition for the Battle of the Bands because all the slots are full, she is the one who suggests to Dewey that he tell the concert organizer that all the kids are terminally ill. Somehow the band makes it on the playbill.

Freddy is probably the most enthusiastic about ditching the regular classwork to focus on the band. He is a good drummer, but is also a bit of a loose cannon. When Dewey must go find him after he wanders off at the Battle of the Bands audition, valuable time is wasted and the group almost misses an important opportunity. The fact that Freddy buys into the rock band project seems to help others also buy into the idea.

Lawrence is a great keyboard player, but he lacks confidence and is a bit awkward. He isn't sure that he is cool enough to be in a rock band. With a bit of encouragement, however, he becomes an important, enthusiastic member of the band.

Zack has quite an overbearing father who doesn't like rock music. He finds, however, that rock music is a way to express his feelings, both by performing on his guitar and writing songs. The group performed his song, "Rock Got No Reason", also called "School of Rock", at the Battle of the Bands.

Tomika likes to eat, and is so self-conscious about her weight that she doesn't even try out to be in the band. The truth is, however, that she has an awesome voice, and, after hearing her sing, Dewey is happy to change her assignment from roadie to singer.

Katie plays cello in the school band, and is able to transform into a bass guitarist with minimal effort. Nicknamed Posh Spice by Dewey, she is very quiet and doesn't have many speaking lines in the movie.

Gordon is the tech wizard in the class. He creates a fantastic light show to go along with the song the group plans to perform. And, when Dewey changes the song with no notice, Gordon somehow makes it work.

In the end, the kids lose the Battle of the Bands competition to Dewey's old band, but the crowd wants to hear the kids' band play an encore number. The movie concludes showing both Ned and Dewey teaching after school classes at their new School of Rock.

You may recognize the incorrect choices as students from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
