Donald Shula, former cornerback player for several NFL teams, passed away as the winningest coach in the NFL for a total of 347 game wins, more than any other head coach. He served as the Miami Dolphins head coach for 26 years. During the 1972 season, Shula led the Miami Dolphins to achieve a perfect season with 17 wins and 0 losses (14-0 in the regular season plus three post-season games to win the Super Bowl).

He also led them to another Super Bowl victory in the following season (12-2 at the end of regular season). Prior to being the head coach for the Miami Dolphins, he had coached the Baltimore Colts and led them to a victorious championship in 1968. Shula was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio in 1997.

Dick Klein (1920-2000) was a professional basketball player in his younger days, but when that passed, he helped establish and then manage the famous Chicago Bulls. At a time when basketball was at a low level in Chicago, Klein was determined to build it up again.

After he negotiated and gained funding to help organise a team in 1966, he then drove about the city promoting it with a live bull tied onto the back of a truck. Initially though, he couldn't think of a suitable name for the new team, but after he suggested several to his young son, the boy in disgust finally exclaimed "What a bunch of bull!" - and the Bulls were born.
