Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Marge and Homer are headed out to parent-teacher meetings. If the kids do good, they get pizza; if they do bad, what does Homer say they'll get?

Answer: Poison

Bart and Lisa are at home watching 'Star Trek XII: So Very Tired' with Abe who, incensed with the rip-off he's watching, declares that he doesn't need to put up with it and falls asleep mid-sentence. It's a poor portent for the evening.

At the same time, Marge and Homer get ready to head out for parent-teacher meetings, suggesting to the kids that they'll get pizza if it's good news. If not, Homer suggests the opposite: poison. If one's good and one's bad, Bart suggests poison pizza, but Homer's not willing to make two stops.
2. Ms. Krabappel, in describing Bart's bad behaviour, goes so far as to do which of these during his parent-teacher meeting?

Answer: Bring in a witness

Before even reaching the school, Homer lays out the game plan-- it's the same one every time. While Homer goes to Lisa's class to hear all the great things she's been doing, Marge is tasked with visiting Ms. Krabappel for Bart. He begs-- she relents.

It doesn't come as much of a surprise for Marge either. After Ms. Krabappel reveals the weapons and items of note in her Bart box, she lists off the atrocities he's been responsible for: synthesizing a laxative from peas and carrots; replacing the teacher's birth control with Tic-Tacs. Marge reasons that Bart probably doesn't mean to be bad. She's wrong about this. As pennance, Ms. Krabappel makes Marge write lines on the blackboard.
3. Ms. Krabappel reasons that with enough discipline, Bart could grow up to become which of these?

Answer: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

In Lisa's class, Homer receives word from Mrs. Hoover that Lisa's absolutely great. In fact, Mrs. Hoover gives him a bumper sticker that indicates his daughter is on the honor roll at Springfield Elementary. It's the clearest indication that she's made it.

While Homer lets Marge know that Lisa is doing amazingly, Marge has to admit they're failing Bart by letting him run wild. Ms. Krabappel suggests sticking to discipline. She reasons that with a measured amount of restraint, any badly behaving student could grow up to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Homer loves this idea. If they don't discipline Bart, there's no knowing how low he'll sink.
4. Moments before Homer and Marge return home from parent-teacher meetings, Bart breaks which of these?

Answer: Abe's dentures

At home Bart decides to get into trouble almost immediately, taking advantage of Abe's deep sleep on the couch to steal his dentures directly out of his mouth. As part of the fun, Bart places the dentures into his mouth, chomps down on a ceiling fan, and lets it run. Moments before his parents walk in the door, Bart accidentally smashes the dentures, leading to a last-minute repair job in which he tapes them back together and shoves them into Abe's mouth.
5. Who caves, bringing Bart pizza when he's sent to his room?

Answer: Homer

The denture fiasco is exactly the type of stunt that Ms. Krabappel talked about. Marge begs Homer to punish the boy seeing as, even then, he's brushing off the bad deed. They decide that the fairest course of action is to send Bart to bed without pizza, a choice that Bart tries repeatedly to manipulate throughout the night while he goes hungry. As everyone goes to bed, Bart realizes this is the one punishment that's stuck and he should think about being better.

Of course, that's when Homer caves and brings him the leftovers, undoing the effect of the discipline.
6. Homer, following up as to whether or not Bart has taken out the trash, finds which of these in the kitchen?

Answer: Goats

Some time after the events of the parent-teacher night, the news breaks on TV-- there's going to be an 'Itchy & Scratchy' movie. Lisa, witnessing the ad, alerts Bart as quickly as possible and the two share in the joy of the announcement. It's at that moment that Homer asks if Bart took out the garbage like he asked. Bart claims he did, but Homer finds no evidence of this. In fact, there are goats eating the trash in the kitchen.

Homer lands on needing to punish Bart, but Bart manages to convince Homer it's too much trouble to both think of a punishment and make sure he follows through. Bart plunks his father down in front of the TV and heads out to Milhouse's instead.
7. Which of these events leads Bart to receive a punishment that actually sticks?

Answer: He loses Maggie

As Bart continues to exhibit bad behaviour that requires punishment, he continues to manage to evade any form of actual discipline whether through clever manipulation or through chance. (One time, Homer manages to get completely distracted by an ice cream truck, for example.) All it does is manage to prolong the mounting problem.

On one occasion, Marge catches Homer ignoring Bart while he's ripping up the carpet in the living room. She demands that Homer punish the boy, but instead, Bart just leaves the house. Homer agrees with the idea that Bart needs to be disciplined, however, and vows that next time he does something bad, he'll make a punishment that sticks.

Some time later, while watching a news report about 'Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie', Bart loses track of Maggie who, as it turns out, snuck into the family car, going on a joy ride and crashing into the wall of the Springfield Correctional Institute.
8. Who thinks up the punishment that Bart shall not watch 'Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie'?

Answer: Homer

In the aftermath of Maggie's car crash, Bart tries to wriggle out of any consequence, but this is the one that gets the biggest punishment Homer's ever had to lay out. Taking the ticket from Bart's pocket, he rips up the boy's admission to 'Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie'; he's not allowed to watch it-- EVER.

Even Lisa believes that it's a particularly harsh punishment. She suggests that the film is a defining moment for their generation, and this would be tantamount to Homer being disallowed from watching the moon landing (which he never watched anyways). He doesn't care; the punishment stands.
9. Who wrote the novelization for 'Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie'?

Answer: Norman Mailer

When the premiere date finally comes to pass, the line for the movie theatre ends up being unreasonably long, stretching all the way to Evergreen Terrace where Bart can only watch helplessly. Homer suggests that someday, Bart will thank him since this is a choice that could set him on the path to becoming Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Bart is welcome to watch anything on TV though.

The problem is that nothing compares. Bart can't even get his imagination to do the heavy lifting.

When Lisa gets back from the movie, she initially tries to downplay how great it was, but she can't hold it in; it was the greatest film experience of her life. Bart even tries to read the novelization of the book, but it's just not the same.

Marge and Lisa have to talk frankly to Homer. Bart's learned his lesson; he's melancholic. With two months of discipline behind them, Homer won't go back on his decision. Bart even tries to sneak into the theatre himself, but the ticket office is under strict orders not to let him in.
10. Does Bart ever get to watch 'Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie'?

Answer: Yes

When autumn finally arrives in Springfield, it's the last day in theatres for 'Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie'. After eight months and nine Academy Awards, the film has run its course. Bart has to admit that his father won the fight, but Homer suggests that they both did as this punishment will have started the boy on the road to something very special.

Forty years later, as Bart and Homer walk down the street in Springfield they come across the old Aztec Theatre as it plays animated classics including 'Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie'. Bart, now Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, is finally allowed to see the film, and Homer treats him to it despite the absurd cost. It's just as violent and silly as they ever could've expected.
