Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ed O'Neill

Ed O'Neill was the only cast member to appear in all 259 episodes of the series. He played Al Bundy, the main character of the series. Al was a lowly shoe salesman stuck in an undesirable marriage to Peggy who spent what little money Al made. In addition to playing Al, Ed O'Neill also played Al's father in a vision Al had in one episode.
2. David Faustino

David Faustino only missed two episodes of the series. One was the episode "Top of the Heap" which served as a failed pilot for a spinoff. Ed O'Neill was the only cast member to appear in that episode. The other episode Faustino missed was "The Poker Game" from season one. David Faustino played Bud Bundy, the younger child of Al and Peggy. Bud was generally considered a loser who had no luck with women.
3. Christina Applegate

Christina Applegate missed three episodes of the series. She missed the same two as David Faustino plus the season two episode "Master the Possibilities". Applegate portrayed Kelly Bundy, the older child of Al and Peggy. Kelly was ditzy and promiscuous but was prone to have moments of intelligence and was street smart.
4. Katey Sagal

Katey Sagal appeared in 247 episodes, missing twelve in total. The majority of those episodes were because of Sagal's pregnancies for which she took leaves of absence from the show. She also did not appear in "Top of the Heap" or the season five episode "Look Who's Barking". Sagal played Peggy Bundy, the lazy wife of Al who loved TV and shopping.
5. Amanda Bearse

Amanda Bearse appeared in 236 episodes, missing twenty-three. Her absences were scattered across the series. In most cases, Bearse directed the episodes her character did not appear in. She portrayed Marcy, the successful next-door neighbor to the Bundys who worked as a banker.
6. Buck the Dog

Buck appeared in 191 episodes. Most of the time he either was laying around but on occasion, he would be the focus of an episode. The character Buck died in season 10 when Buck the actor retired because of his advanced age. He was reincarnated as the Bundys' second dog, Lucky.
7. Ted McGinley

Ted McGinley appeared in 166 episodes, 165 as Jefferson D'Arcy and one as Norman Joblonsky, who was Peggy's husband in a vision Al had. McGinley officially joined the cast in the middle of season 5 as Marcy's second husband. Jefferson was a lazy, often unemployed husband who spent all of Marcy's money. McGinley missed very few episodes once he joined the show as a main cast member in "Married...to Who?"
8. David Garrison

David Garrison played Steve Rhoades, Marcy's first husband for 73 episodes. He was a regular cast member for the first four seasons, leaving in the middle of season four. He made four subsequent guest appearances after that. Garrison missed only two episodes before his last regular episode "Rock and Roll Girl".

In comparison to Jefferson, Steve was employed as a banker and made his own money. He was a lot more supportive of Marcy and less involved in Al's schemes than Jefferson.
9. Lucky the Dog

Lucky the Dog appeared in 48 episodes, not missing a single episode since his debut in "Requiem for a Dead Briard" in season 10. He is the reincarnated form of Buck who was punished for not being a good dog upon his death and sent back to live with the Bundys.
10. Harold Sylvester

Harold Sylvester played Griff, Al's longest-running coworker at Gary's Shoes. He debuted in season 9's "Naughty But Niece". He missed episodes throughout seasons 9 and 10 but became a more regular appearance at the end of season 10. Griff was similar to Al in that neither were successful, could sell shoes or had any money.

They shared the same interests and Griff often served as Al's sidekick whenever Marcy prevented Jefferson from hanging out with Al.
