Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The S.T.A.R.S. organization is incredibly important to both characters. What does the acronym "S.T.A.R.S." stand for?

Answer: Special Tactics and Rescue Squad

At the time of the events in the 1999 "Resident Evil 3", S.T.A.R.S. consists of twelve total people and had been officially formed just a few years ahead of the events of the game. Incidentally, one of its founding members in Albert Wesker would go on to become a major antagonist in the franchise in later entries.

In the scope of this game, Nemesis has more or less been 'programmed' to specifically track down operatives under this organization, such as Jill Valentine. The big, hulking brute is not capable of typical word-of-mouth communication, but despite this, he still bellows out "S.T.A.R.S.!" frequently, as the only word he is capable of using.
2. How old is Jill Valentine, during the events of the 1999 version of "Resident Evil 3"?

Answer: 24

Officially, this game takes place in September of 1998.

As per "Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City", Jill's birthday is February 26, 1974. As such, she would be 24 years old, nearly 25.
3. The scourge which courses through Nemesis is known as the t-Virus. What does the "T" stand for?

Answer: Tyrant

The t-Virus has caused Nemesis to become larger and far stronger than any ordinary human. He is freakishly huge, strong and angry. The only side effect noted about the t-Virus is that low intelligence is unavoidable. Although Nemesis is highly adaptive, Jill is able to take him down in numerous encounters in "Resident Evil 3" by outmaneuvering and outthinking him.
4. Jill and Nemesis naturally encounter one another several times during the original and remade version of "Resident Evil 3." Oftentimes though, the player can and typically should just have Jill run away and ignore him. Ignoring him is not always an option. How many times is the player required to "defeat" Nemesis in the remade (2020) version of the game?

Answer: Four

The first time takes place atop a construction site. Here, Nemesis is armed with a flamethrower. The way to beat him is fittingly simple for a first encounter: the player must disable the mechanism tied to the flamethrower, then simply lay into Nemesis with anything they have to hand.

The second fight takes place as Jill is crossing a bridge. She watches Nemesis, caught ablaze, stumble and fall into a river. After quietly mocking him, she reaches out to Carlos to inform him of their transport going awry, when Nemesis suddenly lunges up at her from the river he fell into, quadrupedal and stronger than he was prior. They then begin to actually fight in front of a clock tower. The main challenge here is dodging Nemesis' aggressive swinging and lunging attacks, while retaliating with whatever the player has to hand when successfully doing so.

The third fight takes place in a disposal center. Here, Nemesis is even faster and sturdier than he was during the second confrontation. There is less room to maneuver, which helps the player by making Nemesis easier to track, but also hinders them by giving them less room to elude him. The challenge here is similar to the second encounter, only differing in that the player must first stun Nemesis with explosives before being able to damage him.

The fourth fight takes place in a different room within the same building as the third fight. This is also the instance in which Jill finally eliminates Nemesis with a really powerful weapon. Marvel!
5. If we peer at Jill Valentine's diary in both the 1999 original and 2020 remake of "Resident Evil 3", we can actually pinpoint exactly what day Nemesis first touches down and enters Raccoon City. What season is it when this takes place?

Answer: Fall

Jill's diary indicates that September 28th is the day the "monsters have overtaken the city." The player has an opportunity to view her diary, shortly before Nemesis abruptly smashes a hole in the wall and 'overtakes' Jill's apartment.
6. Which of the following is a weapon Nemesis wields at least once?

Answer: Rocket launcher

Nemesis uses a flamethrower, a rocket launcher, throws heavy debris and other nearby random objects, and of course, his signature 'tentacle', which he can extend from his arm to impale or otherwise strike at her.
7. What is a nickname or alias used to refer to Nemesis at some point?

Answer: The Pursuer

Although known as 'Nemesis', he is credited as 'The Pursuer' in the game's credits. As well, he is noted as 'the Pursuer' in written works within the game too.
8. Both Nemesis and Jill Valentine faced off in an original and a remade version of "Resident Evil 3". But, they also would go on to face off many, many times in a different video game too. Which game of the following are they also in?

Answer: Dead by Daylight

"Dead by Daylight" is an asymmetrical horror game, a multi-player one at that. In it, one player plays the role of the Killer, whose job it is to hunt four Survivors. Those four Survivors are aiming to simultaneously evade the Killer and repair (typically) five generators within a given map, which would allow them to power the Exit Gates and elude the Killer.

In this game, Nemesis is predictably a Killer, while Jill Valentine is a Survivor. Because of the way the game works, Nemesis is his own, original structure and concept gameplay wise, but Jill Valentine plays nearly identically to the game's many other Survivors.
9. A parasitic organism, contrary to the word "parasite", actually enables Nemesis to regenerate his body from taking severe blows while making small arms fire essentially bounce right off of him. What is the name of this parasite?

Answer: NE-α

This was said to be a workaround for the inevitable brain damage and general deterioration of one's mental faculties when being infused with the t-Virus. It is, in essence, how Nemesis is able to withstand should-be lethal blows and come back, stronger than before.
10. Which of the following is a weapon Jill wields in this game?

Answer: Railgun

During the very final encounter with Nemesis, Jill must fire at him numerous times, then finish him off with one final catastrophic blast which blows him up completely, presumably "killing" him for good.

It is the only opportunity the player has to actually, truly put the big man down. While it appears he seemingly assuredly perishes a couple of times earlier, he always manages to mutate and become even stronger, culminating in the final conflict against a shockingly huge iteration of him.
