Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. There are a lot of weird Legacy moves in this game, but one of the arguably weirdest stems from within the fan favorite Electrode. Electrode has one Legacy Fast move- what is it?

Answer: Tackle

In 2018, Niantic made a myriad of moves across the game into Legacy moves that could no longer be acquired. Though there is no official statement backing this up, moves which were made Legacy predominantly made up of moves that were bad, unviable or at least suboptimal moves on their respective Pokémon, indicating that Niantic likely wanted to improve the performance of a lot of Pokemon in general.

This is definitely one such case, as both of Electrode's non-Legacy Fast moves in Spark and Volt Switch vastly outclass the useless, Legacy Tackle.
2. The mascot of the franchise itself, Pikachu, was perhaps the most obvious candidate for a Community Day that could possibly exist. And it did get one- what is Pikachu's Community Day move?

Answer: Surf

Unfortunately, due to the lack of held items combined with how this game carries over stats from the mainline series, Pikachu is sadly unviable in both PvP and PvE in totality in this game. Still, carrying one such Pikachu, considering it had its Community Day all the way back in 2017, is somewhat proof, if you will, that you've been playing this game for a really long time. So there's that...?
3. One of the three legendary birds of the Kanto region, Zapdos, one day had an entire raid day dedicated to it. In this day, Zapdos gained access to an event exclusive move that became Legacy. What move?

Answer: Thundershock

Thundershock is a significant upgrade over Zapdos' readily available Fast move in Charge Beam. As such, if attempting to raise a Zapdos for raids or for PvP, using an Elite Fast TM to have it learn Thundershock would be a great idea, should you have been unable to get one all the way back in 2018.
4. Kyogre, weak to Electric, is likely one of, if not the hardest raid bosses in "Pokémon GO" history, and it's Primal version is even more of a nightmare to square off with. This is mainly because of the infamous "Blizzard Kyogre", sending trainers scurrying to find proper responses to it. Which Electric type of the following resists Blizzard?

Answer: Magnezone

While the three incorrect answers to this question can certainly be situational good Kyogre counters, they will all swiftly be ripped into a million pieces by the Blizzard that hits them super effectively. Magnezone, resistant to this move, can be extremely valuable for trainers, either as a team of six, or used to backup a team mainly consisting of Grass types who are weak to Blizzard.
5. Mega Ampharos is capable of buffing Electric types, but it can also help out a second typing too. What other type does Mega Ampharos' Mega Bonus apply to?

Answer: Dragon

Much like Mega Sceptile, Mega Ampharos' secondary Dragon typing lets it aid fellow Dragons as well as Electrics. However, similarly to Mega Sceptile, Mega Ampharos does not learn a Dragon Fast move, making it a poor choice for a Dragon attacker.
6. Xurkitree received an extraordinary amount of hype before it's release, as it had the stats to become the new #1 Electric type by a mile. Unfortunately, Xurkitree's moveset somewhat failed to deliver in this regard- what Electric move of the following does Xurkitree learn?

Answer: Discharge

Discharge is a painfully average Charged move. However, because of Xurkitree's ridiculously good stats, it's good enough to allow Xurkitree to be an elite Electric attacker with DPS that puts almost the entirety of the game to shame in the Electric conglomerate.

However, if Xurkitree had even received Thunderbolt, much less Wild Charge instead, it would have indeed gone on to be the undisputed #1 Electric attacker in the game by a country mile. Perhaps Niantic aimed to restrain it slightly to avoid this.
7. In 2019, the legendary Raikou randomly received access to a non-Electric type move. What move?

Answer: Shadow Ball

This was in close proximity to Niantic introducing PvP to the game, so it's possible they wanted to give prominent Pokémon like Raikou a coverage move for such a setting. Entei received Iron Head, Suicune gained Snarl, Zapdos got Drill Peck, and many more instances of such a thing at the time.
8. Magnezone and Vikavolt are a few examples of quality Electric type attackers. Apart from having a friend trade you one, the player will need an item in order to obtain one. What item is needed to get Magnezone or Vikavolt?

Answer: Magnetic Lure Module

When in the proximity of an active Magnetic Lure Module, the player will be able to spend 100 candies to evolve Magneton into Magnezone, or Charjabug into Vikavolt. Once deployed, these Lure Modules will be active for half an hour on default, and they extend to all players in the area. If in a raiding group trying to improve your Electric attackers, only one of you would need to play the Magnetic Lure Module if in the same area.
9. Zekrom can be quite the Electric nuking machine, as Wild Charge gives it a lot of potential in both PvE and PvP. In PvP, however, the player must be careful not to just recklessly throw out Wild Charge without considering the consequences. What happens to Zekrom, or any Electric type, upon using Wild Charge in a PvP setting?

Answer: Their Defense decreases

Even the fairly tanky Zekrom will become quite glassy after using Wild Charge just once. The player should be prepared to either quickly switch it out, or they should be in a position to sacrifice Zekrom, before clicking Wild Charge in PvP.
10. Registeel is in possession of a Legacy Electric move that is quite useful in PvP. What move?

Answer: Zap Cannon

Zap Cannon's niche as far as Registeel is concerned stems from its 50% chance to reduce the target's Attack stat upon use. It also deals generally good damage, though it costs a massive amount of energy.
