1. Where does Raymond Belvedon find the 'Pandora' portrait?

In 1944, Raymond Belvedon and his men are fighting in France. They drive the Germans out of a village and Raymond Belvedon is sent to check out a nearby chateau which is deserted. There he finds a beautiful portrait of 'Pandora' which he smuggles home in a German shell case. The portrait is treasured by the whole family and is hung in a small, locked, turret bedroom to keep it safe and secret.

Galena may have been a bad mother, but Anthea is worse, cold and uncaring as well as unfaithful, and the children all grow up with problems.
