Drew Barrymore Trivia Questions

1. "True love is just a wish away."

From Quiz

Answer: Wishful Thinking

True love might just be a wish away, but be careful what you wish for. Barrymore, Jennifer Beals and James Le Gros star in this ensemble piece about the struggles of urbanites attempting to find love - filmed from three different perspectives. Released in 1997, the movie was directed by Adam Park.

2. "Don't answer the phone. Don't open the door. Don't try to escape."

From Quiz Taglines -- Drew Barrymore Movies

Answer: Scream

The tagline sums up what this movie is about - a serial killer who phones potential victims, asking: "Do you want to die?" There is no escape once you answer that phone. Released in 1996 and directed by Wes Craven, "Scream" is the first of the trilogy starring Neve Campbell ("Party of Five") as Sydney Prescott, a teenager targeted by a serial killer. Drew Barrymore was originally cast as Sydney, but due to schedule conflicts, played the much smaller role of Casey Becker - the first of the slasher's victims. Reese Witherspoon turned down the lead role and Melissa Joan Hart also auditioned for the role of Sydney. The special effects department used about 50 gallons of blood for "Scream".

3. "She did everything wrong, but got everything right."

Answer: Riding in Cars With Boys

This tagline is so fitting for parenthood - essentially what this heartwarming movie is about. Released in 2001 and directed by Penny Marshall, "Riding In Cars With Boys" is based on the autobiography by Beverly D'Onofrio about her youthful days of revelry, rebellion and teenage motherhood. The real life Beverly D'Onofrio has a master's degree in creative writing and appears in the movie as a guest at Beverly's wedding. She and her real son, Jason, can be seen sitting directly behind Barrymore in the wedding scene. When the rights were purchased in 1989 by James L. Brooks, Debra Winger and Cher were considered for the lead.

4. "He's gonna party like it's 1985."

From Quiz Taglines -- Drew Barrymore Movies

Answer: The Wedding Singer

I don't find this tagline particularly fitting and would have rather gone with someting like "True love is right there for you to find." Frank Coraci directed the 1998 romatic comedy starring Drew Barrymore as Julia Sullivan, and Adam Sandler as New Jersey wedding singer Robbie Hart. Left at the altar, Robbie gives up on love until he meets the lovely Julia, and helps her plan her wedding. They fall in love with each other, but will she realise this in time? In the movie, Robbie tells Linda (his former girlfiend) to "Get out of my Van Halen T-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up". David Lee Roth did leave Van Halen in 1985 (the year in which the movie is set).

5. "Some things are worth waiting for."

Answer: Never Been Kissed

The tagline describes this movie about second chances perfectly. Released in 1999 and directed by Raja Gosnell, "Never Been Kissed" tells the story of Josie Gellar, a bright 25 year-old copy editor at Chicago's revered newspaper, the Chicago Sun-Times. Her dream is to become a reporter and although Josie is skilled at her profession, she is completely clueless in her personal life. She was a brainy nerd in high school and has never had a serious relationship with a man. In fact, she has never really been kissed. When she gets an assignment to go undercover at the local school, she gets to relive her high school days. David Arquette plays Josie's brother, Rob Gellar.

6. "Imagine having to win over the girl of your dreams... every friggin' day."

From Quiz Taglines -- Drew Barrymore Movies

Answer: 50 First Dates

Great tagline for a great love story. Barrymore stars as Lucy, a young woman with a unique memory disorder. Henry (Sandler) has been spending his spare time breaking the hearts of female tourists, while Lucy has been waking up every morning thinking it's Sunday - of last year. Once they meet, Henry sets out to win her love - everyday. Directed by Peter Segal and released in 2004, "50 First Dates" pairs Adam Sandler (Henry) and Drew Barrymore (Lucy) in yet another smash hit romantic comedy. The movie was originally entitled "50 First Kisses".

7. "Some things are better left top secret."

From Quiz Taglines -- Drew Barrymore Movies

Answer: Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

The tagline whets your apetite for a great movie, but unfortunately doesn't live up to it. The directorial debut of George Clooney, "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind", was released in 2003 and is based upon the memoir by the same name. It chronicles the life of Chuck Barris, the man who created popular TV game shows and who was rumoured to have led a double life as an assassin for the CIA. Both Julia Roberts and Drew Barrymore worked on the film for a scale salary of $250,000 as a favor to the director and friend, George Clooney. Brad Pitt and Matt Damon cameoed for free.

8. "A wild and sexy adventure!"

From Quiz Taglines -- Drew Barrymore Movies

Answer: Mad Love

The tagline describes the movie perfectly - Barrymore and Chris O'Donnell sizzle in this sexy love story that proves that opposites do attract. Teenagers Matt (O'Donnell) and Casey (Barrymore) are a study in contrasts. The virginal Matt has his mind on his studies and his upcoming college career, while the beautiful Casey is an extroverted free-spirit, despite the efforts of her very strict parents. The couple's intense desire for each other, causes the normally level-headed Matt to embark spontaneously on a road trip to Mexico with Casey. As their journey progresses, Matt begins to realize that the often outrageous, even dangerous behavior of his girlfriend is actually the manifestation of a mental illness--and that he wants her out of his life.
