Barbra Streisand Trivia Questions

1. "I was born from love And my poor mother worked the mines I was raised on the Good Book Jesus Till I read between the lines Now I don't believe I wanna see the morning" Can you name this early Streisand recording?

From Quiz
Barbra Streisand Lyrics (Sans Broadway Musicals)

Answer: Stoney End

Barbra released her recording in 1970 with Columbia Records. She has been recording with Columbia since 1962 - a long relationship in the industry. Peggy Lipton recorded "Stoney End" in 1968. Linda Ronstadt with the band Stone Poneys, released same in 1968. Diana Ross released her version in her debut solo album in 1970 titled, "Diana Ross". A lot of talent vying for the same song to be their personal hit. Barbra's arrangement stands out above the others, although I rate Ross and Rondstadt as exceptional artists.

2. "Time has come again And love is in the wind Like some music in a dream You made them all come true When you came inside of my life Now I'm lost inside of you" Name the song from the movie, "A Star Is Born"?

From Quiz Barbra Streisand Lyrics (Sans Broadway Musicals)

Answer: Lost Inside of You

"Lost Inside of You" is on the movie soundtrack of "A Star is Born", sung by Streisand and featuring Kris Kristofferson. Music and lyrics throughout this soundtrack are emotionally entrenched. Lee Greenwood - "It Turns Me Inside Out" Eric Clapton - "I Get Lost" Complimentary Elimination - "Living Outside of Your IQ" (Yes, the ridiculous)

3. One of Streisand's biggest achievements in film was the revival of "A Star is Born", released in the U.S. in 1976 as a modern day musical. Who performed the duet, "Lost Inside of You" with Barbra?

From Quiz Streisand Moves Music Through Collaboration

Answer: Kris Kristofferson

Both Neil and Marlon were considered for the role of John Norman Howard. The producers wanted Elvis; however, his manager insisted on top billing and a healthy salary although he hadn't acted since 1969. Barbra was top billing and Kris got the job. I can't imagine it any other way!

4. "Through all of my life Summer, winter, spring, and fall of my life All I ever will recall of my life Is all my life with you" Which answer correlates best as the correct title?

From Quiz Barbra Streisand Lyrics (Sans Broadway Musicals)

Answer: What Are You Doin' The Rest Of Your Life?

This song was in the 1969 movie, "The Happy Ending", starring Jean Simmons and John Forsythe. The song was sung by Michael Dees in the film and it was nominated for Best Original Song at The Academy Awards. Barbra's composition is a soft flowing jazzy influenced arrangement that is stamped with her personal signature. Frank Sinatra recorded this song, as well. (What didn't he record?) Complimentary Elimination - "What Are You Doing With Nurse Nightingale?"

5. Barbra has known this person for years but was not aware of his vocal talent until she overheard him humming behind a closed door. They went on to record a duet; as well, he performed with Barbra to live audiences while touring in 2012 and 2013.

From Quiz Streisand Moves Music Through Collaboration

Answer: Jason Gould

On the mother and son duet recording of "How Deep is the Ocean" Barbra contributes to her love for her son. Jason also sang "Nature Boy" and "Masquerade" solos during his live performances. A job well done, Jason! Pine, McFarlane, and Wilson have all recorded a duet with Streisand for her "Encore" album.

6. Streisand sings a heartfelt song, that was not part of the original Broadway musical, at the end of a film. The love song filled with despair was titled simply, "My Man". Which actor played the character she was singing about?

From Quiz Streisand Moves Music Through Collaboration

Answer: Omar Sharif

Nicky Arnstein was the character Fanny Brice was so in love with in the movie, "Funny Girl". Sharif was as debonair as debonair can be. Matthau co-starred in the film version of "Hello Dolly". "The Way We Were" with Robert Redford was never a musical on Broadway. Redford played on Broadway with his most noted play being "Barefoot in the Park". "A Star is Born" was made into a film roughly every 20 years beginning in 1937. The adaptation which starred Barbra and Kris was released in 1976.
