The others had not begun their Major League careers yet. Phillippe came to the Pirates from the Louisville Colonels when the team folded after the 1899 season. Deacon went head to head against the great Cy Young and the Boston Pilgrims in the 1903 Series. Phillippe gave up three runs on six hit in his complete game, and won it 7-3. Boston would however win the Series.

He won the Rookie of the Year Award with the Giants in 1958, then was runner-up to the NL MVP in 1961 to Frank Robinson of the Reds. While as a Cardinal he won the NL MVP in 1967 over teammate Tim McCarver. Orlando retired with the Red Sox after the 1974 season. He was inducted into the Hall in 1999.

In 1925 the team finally fell below the one million mark with just under 700,000; but then topped the one million mark again for the next three consecutive seasons.

He would make two more moves to the Cleveland Indians then the Boston Rustlers of the National League and retired after the 1911 season. He retired with a tremendous 511 wins and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1937 with only 76% of the ballot voting. He died in 1955 at the age of 88.
