Blue and white have been the first-choice colours of Brighton and Hove Albion since their formation. Shirt designs tend to change from season to season, but the most common one worn by Albion is blue and white vertical stripes.

9. From which club did Brighton sign Bobby Zamora in 2000?

From Quiz Brighton & Hove Albion FC

Answer: Bristol City

Zamora never played a full game for Bristol, and was snapped up by Brighton after a brief loan spell at Bath City.

10. From whom did Brighton sign Andy Ritchie?

From Quiz Seagulls

Answer: Manchester United

Andy had the unenviable task of replacing the legend Peter Ward. He scored 26 times in 102 games and was swapped for Terry Conner from Leeds United in March 1983 when the Albion were looking forward to their first ever FA Cup Semi-Final.

11. Which stadium was home to Brighton and Hove Albion from the early 20th century until 1997?

From Quiz Brighton and Hove Albion FC

Answer: Goldstone Ground

Albion first played at the Goldstone Ground in Hove in 1902. They remained there for 95 years before the ground was controversially sold to developers to try and clear the club's debts. The record attendance for a game at the stadium was 36,747 for a match against Fulham in 1958.

12. Whose ground did Brighton share between 1997-1999?

Brighton played at the Goldstone Ground between 1902-97, then ground-shared Priestfield Stadium with Gillingham, before returning home to Brighton in the Withdean Stadium.

13. Which team did Brighton beat in the 1983 Semi-Final at Highbury to reach their first Cup Final appearance?

From Quiz Seagulls

Answer: Sheffield Wednesday

The three wrong answers were also beaten in that cup run.

14. Although they have been known as the Seagulls since the mid-1970s, what was their nickname before that?

From Quiz Brighton and Hove Albion FC

Answer: Dolphins

The crest of the city of Brighton and Hove contained two dolphins, which led to the club adopting this nickname. However, during a game against arch-rival Crystal Palace in February 1976, the Brighton fans responded to chants of "eagles, eagles" from visiting fans with a rhyming "seagulls, seagulls" reply. The club decided to adopt this moniker as their new nickname, which is quite appropriate, as you are far more likely to encounter a seagull than a dolphin on a visit to the Sussex city!

15. Gordon Smith, famous for his last minute miss in that 1983 final, played for which Scottish team in the Scottish League Cup Final that same season?

From Quiz Seagulls

Answer: Rangers

I don't think any other player has appeared in major cup finals both North and South of the border in the same season.

From Quiz Seagulls

Answer: Nottingham Forest

A sad day for Seagull supporters as he was seen as a God on the south coast.

18. Which team did Brighton groundshare with when The Goldstone was sold?

From Quiz Seagulls

Answer: Gillingham

140 mile round trip for a home game! Crawley council for reasons they only know refused the Albion. Seagull supporters would never sanction anything to do with Palace or Pompey and so Priestfield was the choice.

19. In 2011, Brighton and Hove Albion moved into a brand new stadium on the outskirts of the city. What is the official non-corporate name for their new ground?

From Quiz Brighton and Hove Albion FC

Answer: Falmer Stadium

After Brighton left the Goldstone Ground in 1997, they spent two years ground-sharing with Gillingham F.C. before returning to the city to a temporary home at Withdean Stadium. This was an athletics stadium which was not at all suitable for professional football, and the club's dreams were finally realised when Falmer Stadium was opened in 2011. The corporate name in its early years was the Amex (American Express Community Stadium), but, as such names change from time to time, I have used the non-corporate moniker for this question.

20. Brighton won a league game 9-1 in 1954, to set the record for their highest league victory. Who were they playing?

From Quiz Brighton and Hove Albion FC

In his second full-season in charge, he led them to promotion from the Championship and a return to top-flight football for the first time since 1983. Despite keeping them in the Premier League in each of the next two seasons, he was sacked after a poor run of results towards the end of season 2018-19.
