Heading to Panama, teams found the Road Block task in Panama City. Here, one member of each participating team needed to use a bat to hit a baseball thrown by a local little league pitcher (and get a home run or base hit). The Paolo Family did not complete this task (or the Detour) as they had performed tandem bungee jumps in Panama City for the only Fast Forward of this race. The Gaghan family attempted to reach this task, but were beaten by the Paolos by minutes. The Paolos subsequently placed first. After the Road Block, teams traveled to the Pit Stop at the Miraflores Locks.

21. Leg 4 took teams to Louisiana. In the Detour task called 'Play', teams needed to play which card game?

From Quiz Detours of "The Amazing Race 8"

Answer: 21

Heading to Madisonville, Louisiana, teams encountered a Detour task at Fairview Riverside State Park asking for a choice between 'Work' and 'Play'. Once four cuts of the tree were removed (at certain diameters) they would get their next clue. In 'Play', teams needed to go to a riverboat and put on old-time outfits to play a game of 21 against a professional dealer. Once all team members beat the dealer in three non-consecutive rounds, even if the dealer bust, they would receive their next clue telling them to head to the Pit Stop in New Orleans' French Quarter. The Branson, Weaver, and Schroeder families successfully completed 'Play' (though others tried) while the remaining teams completed 'Work'.

25. What state did teams need to travel to in leg 7?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race 8" [4]

Answer: Arizona

After the Detour, teams were instructed to fly to Phoenix, Arizona. Once there, teams had to find their marked cars and drive to Bondurant Superkarts School to find their clues. The Godlewski family took a plane top New York, drove to Newark, and flew to Arizona and arrived first. The Paolo, Bransen, and Weaver families flew to New York and then to Arizona and arrived second, and the Linz family landed a short time after by taking a flight to Atlanta, then to Phoenix.

26. After receiving their final clue in New York, teams drove to Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania. When team was first to cross the Delaware?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race 8" [1]

Answer: Aiello

Teams arrived at Washington Crossing Historic Park and had to paddle across the Delaware River to retrieve a flag. Teams then needed to take the flag to the other side and watch a flag-folding ceremony before getting their next clue. During this task, teams had to battle the current in order to cross the river, and some teams traveled quite a bit downstream.

27. In Leg 6, teams completed a Road Block in Costa Rica involving coffee beans. What colour bean did they need to find?

From Quiz Road Blocks of "The Amazing Race 8"

Answer: Red

Certainly the case of a needle in a haystack, teams made their way to the Doca Estate, a coffee plantation in the city of Alajuela, Costa Rica. Here, one member of each team needed to search through an 800lb pile of coffee beans to find a single red bean amongst the rest. Once that team member successfully completed this task, they could head onwards to Roca Loca Surf Shop in Jaco for a Detour. At the Road Block, the Paolo family exercised their Yield powers to force the Weavers to wait before performing the task.

28. In Leg 5, teams completed their first international Detour in Panama. In 'Rhythm', what instrument was not carried?

From Quiz Detours of "The Amazing Race 8"

Answer: Tuba

At Barro Colorado Island in Panama, teams encountered a choice between 'Rhythm' and 'Coos'. In 'Rhythm', teams needed to collect four different instruments commonly seen in Latin music, the saxophone, trumpet, conga drums, and trombone, all from different locations. Once accumulated, they would need to be brought to a local club for teams to collect their clue. In 'Coos', teams needed to go into the rainforest with a pair of binoculars to search for five stuffed birds. Once they correctly identified these using a chart, they would receive their clue. For both tasks, teams needed to travel by 'Red Devil Buses'. After the detour, teams returned to Panama City for a Road Block. The Godlewski, Linz, and Gaghan families completed 'Rhythm' while the Weaver and Bransen families completed 'Coos'.

29. In Leg 10, which detour option did the Bransens choose?

From Quiz 'The Amazing Race' Series 8 Detours

Answer: Spike It

'Spike It' involved creating a twenty foot section of railway track. 'Steam It' involved pouring 400 pounds of coal into a steam locomotive.

30. How many balls did teams need to find during the Road Block in leg 11?

From Quiz "The Amazing Race 8" [6]

Answer: Four

After receiving their clues from Buffalo Bill, teams drove seventy-three miles to Red Lodge, Montana. They then had to go to the tenth tee on the lodge's golf course to find their clue. Once they found the Road Block, two team members needed to pick a flag and find four golf balls of the same colour as the flag on the back nine holes. Once teams found these, they received a clue telling them to go to the Pit Stop.
