1. The episode begins with BJ and Winchester trying to top one another with the medical procedures each has performed. At one point, Hawkeye jumps in and says something rather unrelated...

BJ adds that Hawkeye can do said cartwheel while performing an appendectomy.

And who better than the 4077's own Christian Dior to supply the doctors with sewing materials? I think I only heard Margaret mention sewing on a button (for her father) in one episode throughout the whole series, but Klinger was always making new clothes.

BJ is tickled pink, and he should be. Stinson Beach is a lovely stretch of northern California coast along the Pacific Ocean. It's not far from Mill Valley, where BJ and Peg call home. All BJ needs to do is send Peg money for a down payment, and the acre of land is theirs. That's the tricky part.

Margaret literally says, 'You've got a hunk of wood in there, do you want me to take it out?' Hawkeye responds, 'Of course I do! If I want a souvenir I'll go to the gift shop.' When Margaret actually does extract the wood (after some extreme and very convincing histrionics by Alan Alda) we get a look at it. Looks very painful!

Alan Alda both wrote the script for this episode and co-directed it with Burt Metcalfe, the producer. I suppose that Alda wanted to finally have a go at Hot Lips, having heard all the rumors!

Colonel Bloodworth is ably played by Charles Aidman. Bloodworth seems a fitting name for a man who tallies casualty rates. Interestingly, one of the most interesting 'M*A*S*H' scriptwriters was named Linda Bloodworth. Coincidence? Perhaps not! Contrast the name Bloodworth to 'Aidman', the actor's real name, and the intrigue gets even deeper.

Answer: Helsinki

The 1952 Summer Olympics indeed occurred in Helsinki, Finland, and featured a very successful performance by the U.S. Olympic team (which took home 76 medals in total). Specifically mentioned in excerpted footage during the episode are the following events: the torch ceremony, lit by Finnish sports legend Paavo Nurmi; the marathon, won by Czech Emil Zatopek in record time; the pole vault, won by American Reverend Bob Richards; the steeplechase, won by American F.B.I. man Horace Ashenfelter and the women's 4x100m sprint competition, won by the U.S.

The term 'scrip' is short for 'subscription receipt', and refers to provisional certificates of money issued by banks, companies or other organizations (for example, the U.S. army) that may be used to exchange for formal, government issued currency. The point of using scrip is to fight off counterfeiters and black marketeers, as the scrip can be more frequently changed.

While Klinger plays musical light bulbs in the operating room, the surgeons all bicker (particularly Charles) about the lack of supplies. Particularly worrisome is the lack of both 4.0 and 3.0 silk. Hawkeye must resort to using Klinger's sewing thread for sutures.

It looks like Major Freedman has taken a 'friendly' shell fragment in the head. He was giving therapy to a young soldier in a foxhole when the Chinese made a surprise sudden offensive. Luckily, Sidney is perfectly able to sit up by himself and communicate comfortably with Hawkeye. His wound is superficial.

Answer: That he's an imposter

Of course the viewer soon discovers that there is no investigation, it's only a mischievous friend of BJ's looking for a good laugh. Radar sings the 'ABC' song at the beginning of the episode while he thumbs through the files in Colonel Potter's filing cabinet. The Colonel joins in the song for the first round, but requests that Radar cease the childish song when he begins anew.

Answer: Quarter

Charles asks if either of them has a quarter so he can open his can of truffles. He then gives Hawkeye and B.J. just one cracker with liverwurst on it for their help.

As soon as he gets to the door of the swamp, however, he says "I feel different already. I think I'm getting a fever." Ah, sweet, innocent, lovable Radar.

Colonel Potter instructs Klinger to make sure that all roads in and out of the compound be guarded by military police so that black marketeers will be unable to have access to the camp with their arbitrage schemes (foreshadowing!)

According to Klinger, Habibi is a high-spirited two-humper (or bactrian) that spits. Colonel Potter is especially annoyed at Klinger's antics on this day, especially now that he has to deal with the provost marshal's office. Radar is rather amused, however, and insists that he will write home about it. After Klinger exits, Radar comments on the smell, which Colonel Potter explains is 'Lebanese aftershave'.

Answer: Father Mulcahy

Despite having lived alongside Burns and Houlihan for months, Father Mulcahy claims to only have a 'suspicion' about the relationship between the two erstwhile lovers. Hawkeye has to explain that Margaret and Frank 'knew each other in the biblical sense' ('Both testaments', BJ adds.) I have a hard time believing anyone, even a priest, could be this naive.

Charles shares his gourmet dinner with Margaret in her tent and they both become ill from eating the spoiled canned pheasant.

Miller was played by Hamilton Camp. When I saw him I exclaimed "Oh! I know that guy!" This is probably because Camp was one of those actors that made the rounds on many shows, from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" to "Star Trek: Deep Space 9".

The two of them use some small clay cups they find in the hut, one of which Hawkeye describes thusly: 'It can't be too dirty, whatever is in the bottom is still alive.'

Klinger embarks on a strict diet of Lebanese salami, a meat which apparently has a very unique aroma. By the end of the episode Klinger has eaten enough to upset his stomach. He claims that he has consumed fully 10 salamis, and, knowing Klinger, there is little reason to doubt this claim! Klinger calls his program 'food for freedom', while Potter characterizes it as 'suicide by salame'.

The spoiled pheasant was in a can and Margaret asked Charles if this was the way pheasant tasted because she said it tasted funny. He assured her that pheasant tasted that way.

After threats on his very existence, Klinger runs off to find a jeep so he can chase down the garbage truck.

The following morning, BJ and Hawkeye are off to the mess tent for some breakfast. Charles remains in bed and, just before BJ exits the tent, requests a small favor.
