The episode starts with Hal reviewing Reese's report cards. He tells Lois that it is "much better than last time", though he explains that the improvements include using the same brand of pen that the teacher uses and that he gave himself a C instead of an A+ in Math to make it more believable. Hal suggests grounding Reese for two months, but Lois increases the punishment to three months, as well as having Reese scrub toilets.

Every time Hal tried to make a move, Malcolm stared at him and indicated with his stare that it wasn't a good move. When Hal finally made a move he was satisfied with, Malcolm smiled and made him repeat "checkmate". Hal was very happy and ran to the bedroom to tell Lois that he had just beaten Malcolm, the family's genius, at chess. It was very apparent that Malcolm let his dad win. Malcolm then said: "hey, he lets me win at basketball".

Then, they put Dewey on a homemade catapult and launch him into the air! Malcolm remarks that he wishes Dewey would stay little forever, despite how dangerous this looked.

On Reese's second turn at bat, he once again hits the ball and now breaks a flowerpot. Meanwhile, poor Dewey is laying on the floor, serving as the home plate.

The episode opens with Malcolm saying that there are a lot of good things about weekends, such as watching cartoons and the fact that there is no school. The best part though, he says, is going to Mrs. Jansen's house. We soon learn why the three Wilkerson brothers are so eager to visit their neighbor: they appear to be taking advantage of her poor memory. First, they wear masks as if it was Halloween and say "trick or treat!", prompting the innocent lady to give them candy. Seconds later, they change their outfit and tell Mrs. Jansen that they have shovelled her walkway. Mrs. Jansen believes them and gets her purse so she can pay them. Malcolm admits these are condemnable actions, but that this is probably the only human contact Mrs. Jansen gets. Jansen Panettiere is an American actor born in 1994. He has appeared in movies and TV shows like "The X's", "The Last Day of Summer", and "The Martial Arts Kid". His sister Hayden Panettiere also has had a successful acting career.

The episode opens with Malcolm and Reese standing next to their open fridge, challenging each other to eat or drink expired foods and beverages. Finally, Malcolm refuses to drink eggnog so old that they think it was there before the birth of their brother Dewey. Then, Hal interrupts to inform the family that there is a van next door, which means they have new neighbors.

Lois was holding several pairs of white underpants which looked like new. She questioned Malcolm as to why she bought him so many if he wasn't wearing them. The girl easily overpowers Reese, but he doesn't go down without the support of his family. Lois and Hal yell "come on Reese!" and "let's go son!" but notably, Dewey yells from the stands: "kill her!" After Reese starts pulling her hair, Dewey switches his scream to "kill him!"

The Krelboyne class has a guest speaker asking for a volunteer to participate in their school play. The play in question is Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream". While Dabney says that Shakespeare was "a syphilitic drunk fronting for the 14th Earl of Oxford", Lloyd defends the Bard and his works, specifically "King Lear". Malcolm explains that his class is usually chosen to volunteer for things no one else wants to do because they assume the Krelboynes have nothing better to do.

Hal does point out that Malcolm is asking to be teased by wearing the jester costume.

Then, the boys go out to their cesspool and cover it with plastic wrap. They cover it with a blanket and place some chairs, a parasol, and a book to make it look like a picnic spot.

The family is headed on a weekend vacation to a resort with a casino. Lois tells the boys they'll have a good time as well, and that Francis couldn't be with them because he was placed on academic probation at school. Unsurprisingly, Francis tricked his parents into thinking he was on probation so he could have the house to himself while the family was away. He calls Richie to share the good news and invites him and his friends to a party. Richie apologizes and explains they are in jail for trying to steal an inflatable panda outside a car lot. Richie doesn't think he can make it either, mainly because he is in the middle of an intervention.

Malcolm is friends with Stevie Kenarban, another boy from school. His parents are very overprotective, which is why they don't let Stevie play any video games with violence in them. According to Malcolm, Stevie has all his favorite video games but from when he was four years old. Ms. Kenarban then enters the room and makes both children use hand sanitizer. She then offers them some applesauce, an objectively unappealing snack to a child, accompanied with some cinnamon in case they're "feeling a little crazy". Malcolm doesn't get to eat it because his mom is there to pick him up. Lois honks and yells very loudly so Malcolm comes out quickly.

Malcolm explains that their mom, Lois, took them to the store where she works so they could buy her a birthday present. Seconds later, we see Reese with his hand stuck in a toy machine; he was presumably trying to get a toy for free. Annoyed, Lois inserts a 25-cent coin to free Reese's hand from the machine, also releasing a toy in the process. Reese looks very happy because he successfully got the toy.

Malcolm and the Krelboynes are gathered in the Wilkerson backyard studying astronomy. While Reese eats Halloween candy, Lloyd explains that he doesn't envy the cavities Reese will likely develop. The Krelboynes want Malcolm to go to the Leonid meteor shower that would occur in the coming days, but Malcolm says he can't. Inside the house, young Dewey appears wearing a costume that consists of a bedsheet with two holes where the eyes are. Lois removes the disguise from Dewey, indicating that it must be dirty because he has been wearing it for a whole week. Since Dewey wasn't wearing anything else beneath the sheet, he has to go put on some clothes.

Malcolm hits the ball while playing Reese's new game, but the ball accidentally goes into Mrs. Griffin's yard. This clearly is not good news: the boys describe her as "old and mean". They go back inside the house and take down all the other pranks they had set up. "The Bridges of Madison County" is a best-selling novel by American writer Robert James Waller. The story was adapted into a movie featuring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep, which premiered in 1995.

A silver Toyota car is following them quite closely, something that annoys Hal. When he screams at the driver behind him, Lois reprimands her husband because the driver "could have a gun". Finally, Hal lets the Toyota pass him. Seconds later, the Wilkersons come to a sudden halt. At the end of the episode, it was revealed that this silver Toyota was the cause of the traffic jam.
