Just as was the case with "Drag Race Down Under" season 1, ten queens entered the workroom on day one to size each other up and kick off the multi-week competition for the crown and drag supremacy. This season, the ten queens that were introduced were also informed that they would be competing for a cash prize of $50,000 (instead of the previous year's $30,000 total).

RuPaul and Michelle Visage headed across the Pacific during the COVID-19 pandemic to find Australia and New Zealand's finest drag queen, worthy of the crown and the title of "Down Under's first Drag Superstar", and because of this they brought in ten queens-- seven from Australia and three from New Zealand-- to vie for the chance. This season was filmed in accordance with COVID protocol in Auckland, New Zealand.

After being introduced in the workroom, the ten contestants were prompted with their first main challenge, a song and dance introducing themselves on the runway complete with choreography and looks inspired by Mardi Gras Pride. Half the girls had to insert their own short verses into "Super Queen" before the song transitioned into the other girls performing along with "Sissy That Walk". After a runway presentation to the theme of 'Somewhere Under the Rainbow', the contestants were judged for the first time and Amyl and Ivory Glaze were sent to the bottom two. Lip syncing to "Down Under" by Men at Work, Amyl was the first queen eliminated.

After the queens were brought into this season's workroom, Ru introduced them through a series of photoshoots based on the faux-Marvel movie "Thar". It gave the queens the first glimpse into the competition which would be kicking off this time around with a 'Get to Know You Ball' comprised of two different runway themes. The first of these, first seen at the start of season 7 of the U.S. version of the show, involved nude-illusion runway looks. The second was themed 'No Place Like Home' for which the queens had to present a look dedicated to their hometown. Elektra Shock and Jojo Zaho were placed in the bottom with Jojo being sent home.

Answer: The lip sync was postponed to the following day

The second week of the competition brought the queens into a difficult design challenge, preparing wedding outfits of their choosing entirely from bedding provided to them from their photoshoot mini-challenge. The looks could be anything of their choosing-- bride, bridesmaid, flower girl, anything-- provided they could sell the story on the runway. While Isis Avis Loren was given an easy win, being responsible for putting the finishing touches on nearly all other queens' looks, Rita Menu was placed into the bottom alongside Ivory Glaze. Ivory, in the bottom the previous week, felt the pressure and fainted on the main stage before the lip sync, leading Ru and production to put off the song and dance until the next day to ensure the queen's safety. Ivory was eliminated when they took to the stage the next morning.

Answer: Fake

With the previous week's best-performing and worst-performing queens selecting the teams, the top eight were thrust into an improv acting/comedy challenge in which they had to personify fake characters created for 'The Fake Housewives of Down Under', a mock-reality reunion show hosted by Rhys that would be able to showcase their wit and banter if they could cut it. After a 'Bad Girls Gone Bad' theme on the runway, the judges gave the win to Gabriella Labucci while placing Ivanna Drink and Rita Menu in the bottom. Rita would hold out for a second time, sending Ivanna home and leaving seven queens in the competition.

Answer: Queens Down Under

As with most international (non-U.S.) seasons of the show, this season featured an original musical number created for the queens to create their own lyrics and dance to. For the Down Under queens, it was the simply-named "Queens Down Under", and the queens split into two separate teams (one with Scarlet Adams, Etcetera Etcetera, Coco Jumbo and Anita Wigl'it and one with Elektra Shock, Karen from Finance, Kita Mean and Maxi Shield) to perform. The overall winner was Scarlet Adams while Elektra Shock and Coco Jumbo both faced their second time in the bottom two. Coco was sent home.

Though "Down Under" persisted with the notoriety of being a poor destination for Snatch Game performances, this season saw standouts with Ashley Madison, who led the group with a comedic take on Jesus Christ, and Isis Avis Loren, who embodied Donatella Versace on the panel (with the former taking the win this week). On the main-stage, the category was 'Night of 1,000 Kylie Minogues', and in sheer coincidence, two queens-- the bottom two queens-- not only flopped Snatch Game, but brought similar outfits to the two top queens. Flor and Rita Menu lip synced and Rita, on her third bottom appearance, was sent home.

Answer: Art Symone

As the Top 7 went into a design challenge involving recycled materials, they were surprised by the return of the previously-eliminated Art Symone, who left in ninth place but would be reentering the competition on Ru's request. As such, eight queens were tasked with making their own garments to be shown on the runway the following day. It dropped earlier frontrunners Karen From Finance and Anita Wigl'it to the bottom wherein Karen beat Anita in a lipsync to Dannii Minogue's "I Begin to Wonder". It marked the departure of the first New Zealand queen of the competition and brought the remaining queens back down to seven.

Answer: Bosom Buddies

After this season's reading challenge, the queens were split into two teams of three to take on their girl group challenge, performing their own lyrics and choreography to the original song "Bosom Buddies" while letting the other girls on their team have it. Kween Kong, Spankie Jackzon, and Hannah Conda all took the win on this one (also taking $2,000 each from Snag Tights) while Ru deemed Molly Poppinz and Yuri Guaii the bottom two, both in their first time lip syncing. Molly won out over Yuri leaving only five in the competition.

Answer: Professional athletes

The top six queens of the season completed a mini-challenge won by Maxi Shields and it allowed her to choose partners for all of the queens for this season's makeover challenge. This time around, the queens had to makeover members of the New Zealand Falcons RFC, bringing them to the runway as their drag daughters and emulating their own style and mannerisms for the judging panel. Kita Mean took her first win in this challenge while Maxi Shields was sent home in the lipsync (against Scarlet Adams).

Answer: A family of four super-fans

For this week's maxi-challenge sponsored by Anastasia Beverly Hills, the queens needed to take four gentlemen, all from the same family, and make them over for the runway, presenting them with an 'Opposites Attract'-themed runway presentation. Queens could use their own drag to support the makeovers if they so choose, but they needed to ensure their new drag family members shared a familial resemblance. Kween Kong took her first solo win this round while Molly Poppinz, who was first to choose her partner, lip synced against Hannah Conda and was sent home before the finale.

Answer: Crying on the Dance Floor

For their last challenge, the remaining three queens had to overcome the expected song and dance on the main stage as they developed new lyrics for RuPaul's track "Crying on the Dance Floor (The Deep Down Under Mix)". After making a verse and recording their lines, they would need to head to the main stage to choreograph a routine with season 2 contestant Kween Kong and, then enjoy a Jaffa and interview with Ru and Michelle. After one last unexpected guest-- season 2 winner Spankie Jackzon-- they had nothing left to do but perform.

Answer: Who is She?

For their final week of competition, the top three queens had to handle a traditional Down Under RuMix, this time to the new single "Who is She?". After being tasked with writing their own personalized lyrics and recording them for the track, they hit the main stage to learn choreography with season one contestant Elektra Shock. The last order of business before the queens performed on the main stage was a Jaffa lunch and chat with Ru and Michelle, and with that, the queens had all they needed to wrap up the season.

Answer: I'm a Winner, Baby

The final four dived into one last challenge before standing before the judges, and following the expected finale norms, the last queens left standing were asked to collaborate with RuPaul on the song "I'm a Winner, Baby". Each queen needed to write their own solo verse, then work with a choreographer to create the most complex dance moves for the season. They were also cordially invited to a light lunch with Ru and Michelle on the main stage in the midst of their plans.

Answer: Isis Avis Loren

After their main stage performance, the queens had their last moment in front of the judges in their finest Finale Eleganza Extravaganza looks. It was after this that Ru eliminated Flor, leaving only Gabriella Labucci and Isis Avis Loren in contention for the grand prize. The only thing separating the pair from victory or defeat was a Lip Sync for the Crown to Annie Lennox's "Walking on Broken Glass", and with that, Ru gave the win to Isis Avis Loren, making her the first Aussie winner of "Drag Race Down Under". Isis took the $50,000 AUD prize, a crown and sceptre, and a year's supply of cosmetics from Anastasia Beverly Hills.

After hitting the runway dressed in their Grand Finale Eleganza Extravaganza looks, the final three queens had one last lip sync to Kylie Minogue's song "Wow" before Ru declared New Zealand queen Spankie Jackzon the winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under" season two. Spankie received not only a year's supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics and the crown and sceptre, but also the cash prize of $50,000 from Samsung.

Answer: Kita Mean

The queens ended this season in their best drag, hitting the runway for one final critique from the judges including their final maxi-challenge and their full run of "Drag Race Down Under". After speaking to the judges, the clincher was one last lipsync, this time for the crown, to Olivia Newton-John's classic track "Physical". It was with this that RuPaul crowned Kita Mean, the last remaining New Zealand queen, as the first Down Under Drag Superstar. She won the $30,000 (AUD) grand prize, a one-year supply of Revolution Beauty Cosmetics, and the crown and title. The remaining three queens were all equal runners-up.
