Eureka Trivia Questions

1. Who arrived in Eureka during the two hour "Pilot" episode?

From Quiz
Sci-Fi Presents "Eureka"

Answer: Jack and Zoe Carter

"Eureka" premiered on Sci-Fi in July 2006 and became an instant hit. In that first episode, US Marshal Jack Carter became stranded in Eureka. Eureka's a special town on the American west coast. It's a place for scientists to live and create special projects for the government. Many times, those projects have ended in various levels of disaster. Town of Eureka fun fact: In the "Pilot", Zoe witnessed her and her father leaving town at the same time they were driving into it. The Zoe leaving town even waved at the Zoe entering Eureka. In season one, Colin Ferguson played Jack and Jordan Hinson played Jack's delinquent daughter Zoe. "Eureka" was filmed in Canada.

2. Which scientist served as Eureka's local auto mechanic?

From Quiz Sci-Fi Presents "Eureka"

Answer: Henry

Henry was sort of like a jack of all trades/scientist. In the first episode, it is Henry who set out to repair Jack's vehicle. He ran his business out of an auto garage, and was on the scene with Jack very often as season one continued forward. Neither Allison or Jo are scientists at all, and Douglas Fargo is more a mental man than a physical one. Actor Joe Morton played Henry. Joe's had a long career on both film and television. He portrayed Whitley's fiance Byron on "A Different World", Miles Dyson in "Terminator 2", and Dr. Steven Hamilton on "Smallville" to name a very few.

3. After Jack agreed to be the new Sheriff, who sent him to live inside S.A.R.A.H.?

From Quiz Sci-Fi Presents "Eureka"

Answer: Fargo

In "Many Happy Returns", Jack is an exhausted man with no home of his own in Eureka. So, Douglas Fargo (known mainly as Fargo) took Jack over to meet SARAH. Sarah is an acronym that stands for Self-Actuated Residential Automated Habitat. Sarah, who seemed to have "her" own mind, took to Sheriff Carter right off. She talked to him, cooked for him, minded his subtle likes and dislikes, and even locked him inside the habitat when he came back late without calling home to let her know. Though Fargo did not admit it, Jack suspected he'd been the actual voice behind the artificial intelligence known as Sarah. As episodes wore on, it became clear that Fargo had an un-admitted love for Sarah Michelle Gellar and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". I was not real surprised by this fact, though highly amused, as "Buffy" and "Angel" producer David Greenwalt worked on season one. Fargo named the house Sarah, has talked about SMG many times, and the computer system at Global verified he was thinking a lot about "Buffy" fan sites. Canadian born actor Neil Grayston played Fargo.

4. In "Before I Forget", a famous scientist comes to town to finish off a special project. In truth, John Anderson had been using a memory erasing gizmo to steal ideas from who?

From Quiz Sci-Fi Presents "Eureka"

Answer: Both of these

John Anderson, and his wife Kim, were old friends of Henry Deacon. Henry and Kim had also shared a special relationship in the past, though the pair couldn't put their fingers on why it had ended. The sad truth turned out to be that Henry had invented the memory device, and John had used it against him. John wiped Henry's mind and claimed to be the inventor. Then, he also wiped out the extent of Henry and Kim's relationship, and took Kim to be his own love interest. Over the next decade or so, John had continued to use Kim's intelligence to his own benefit. This is the episode where Jack shoots Henry, but then cannot recall the details.

5. During his stay in Eureka, Jack takes up residence at Beverly Barlowe's Bed & Breakfast - an establishment just as unusual as the rest of the town. What "side job" of Beverly's involves some high-brow clients, possibly even the President himself?

From Quiz Welcome To "Eureka" (Pilot Episode)

Answer: Psychotherapist

When Carter arrives at the Bed & Breakfast, Beverly (Debrah Farentino) is seeing off a client in a mysterious, black helicopter belonging to the U.S. Government. She prefers the term psychotherapist to shrink, and claims her clients include "diplomats, dignitaries, even a few presidents." However, her secret agenda is revealed at the end of the episode during a counseling session with Susan Perkins, wife of Walter (who is presumed dead). Susan expresses concern over the "help" Walter had in building the tachyon accelerator; after administering a fatal cup of tea, Beverly reveals that she and whoever she works for chose Walter for this project, and would now have to start over. Setting up the scene with a bottle of pills, Beverly calls Deputy Lupo and reports Susan's "suicide."

6. What is the name of the company in Eureka used to house government experiments?

From Quiz Sci-Fi Presents "Eureka"

Answer: Global Dynamics

This is the official company that all the scientists work for, and it's head by Nathan Stark. Global Dynamics is a secret facility, unknown to the general public. When we first met Nathan he was still married to Allison, but he's not the father of her special son Kevin. Ed Quinn played Nathan in season one. Meshach Peters played Allison's son, Kevin Blake.

7. What is the name of the cafe Vincent works in?

From Quiz Sci-Fi Presents "Eureka"

Answer: Cafe Diem

Vincent's cafe offered anything you wanted. I am not sure how he got anything you ask for, that seemed to be a small Eurekan mystery. Chris Gauthier played Vincent. Vincent has guest starred on "Dark Angel", "Dead Like Me", and "The L Word".

8. "Purple Haze"- Which Eureka resident did Fargo have an ongoing dispute with, over their loud late night music?

From Quiz Sci-Fi Presents "Eureka"

Answer: Seth

Seth had a crop of some exotic hybrid growing. The plants liked the theme from "Apocalypse now" during the evening hours. Fargo called Jack to investigate and handle the noise issue. Jack told Seth that the music had to end at 6 pm, and if he had to come back he'd bring a stun gun and a weed whacker. Seth Osbourne was played by Alan Legros. More references were found to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" in this episode. Seth Osbourne directly relates back to Seth Green's portrayal of Daniel Osbourne on "Buffy", and Fargo had a tropical fish (Siamese Fighting Fish or Beta) named Warren. Warren was one of the evil trio in season six of "Buffy".

9. "H.O.U.S.E. Rules"- In this episode, SARAH takes over the house and traps seven people inside. They try to take away her power source, which causes a new A.I. identity to show up. Who is the new A.I. operating the house?

From Quiz Sci-Fi Presents "Eureka"

Answer: BRAD

Since Henry had decided to leave Eureka, Jack had become depressed over the possible consequences to come. Jack's melancholy had SARAH worried, as she did not want him to leave Eureka. So, she paged a lot of Jack's co-workers/friends to the home, and then trapped them inside. She also trapped in the pizza delivery man. So, it was pizza guy, Jack, Henry, Nathan, Allison, Beverly, and Fargo. SARAH paged Jo as well, while she was involved in a paint ball war with Taggart. Jo did not arrive in time, and was not trapped inside. She and Taggart managed to save the trapped folks from BRAD. SARAH was gently holding the group hostage in order for them to sort out their issues. But, when they messed with the power source, and it did not work, BRAD emerged with hostility. Fargo admitted he'd programmed SARAH over the A.I. known as BRAD. BRAD was a military interrogation A.I., which stood for Battle Reactive Automatic Defense. Sadly, the pizza guy escaped right before BRAD emerged, but BRAD vaporized him outside the habitat. BRAD almost zapped Zoe as well, but Jack used his prized baseball bat to attack the nuclear generator that served as back up power.

10. "Once in a Lifetime"- In the season one finale, Nathan finally explores the artifact. Sadly, this intrusion kills one of Eureka's scientists. Which one lost their life in this event?

From Quiz Sci-Fi Presents "Eureka"

Answer: Kim

The episode began with this event, and just as the disaster started to occur, we saw Jack wake up four years later. The year was 2010. He and Allison were married and she was expecting a baby, Zoe was graduating Valedictorian, and Nathan was no longer head of Global. As this Utopian version of Eureka unfolded, the space time continuum begins to fail, brining pieces of the past into jarring conflict with the present year. The truth was that Henry used Carl's time travel machine to send his memory back to 2006 and save Kim from her death in the artifact disaster. But, doing this made an alternate time line in history, which was competing for the same space/time. This ripple threatened to destroy the universe. So, Nathan came back to Eureka and aided Jack in his own quest to stop Henry. Jack was successful and Kim died in the event. Tamlyn Tomita played Kim Anderson. You may remember her in the sequel "Karate Kid II" from 1986. It was her first acting role.

11. The world having been saved (and their car fixed), the Carters depart Eureka. Back in his office, though, Marshal Carter receives a surprise promotion - one that will require him to return to the quirky town. What is his new job?

From Quiz Welcome To "Eureka" (Pilot Episode)

Answer: Sheriff of Eureka

Although the promotion includes a pay raise, Carter is less than thrilled at the prospect of returning to the crazy little town called Eureka. His first day on the job as Sheriff begins with a large object crashing through the roof of the sheriff's office: "Jo, call Henry!" It's just another day in Eureka. . . .

12. "Once in a Lifetime"- In the 2010 version of Eureka, which person did not attend Zoe's high school graduation?

From Quiz Sci-Fi Presents "Eureka"

Answer: her mother

I found it strange that Zoe's mother did not attend. Joe and Taggart were there, as were Jack and Allison. Zoe had changed into a self confidant young woman with a great spirit and outlook. She was even congratulated by her step-brother Kevin, whose autism seemed to have vanished. I guess the steps Global was taking with Kevin had paid off in the past. Good news for fans of the show, "Eureka" was picked up for 13 more episodes just after the season one finale aired.
