Super Mario World Trivia Questions

1. "Super Mario World" famously introduces us to Yoshi. During what game's development did Shigeru Miyamoto first come up with the concept for Mario to ride a dinosaur?

From Quiz
Let's Play 10: "Super Mario World"

Answer: Super Mario Bros.

Miyamoto first came up with the concept of Mario riding a dinosaur during the development of the original "Super Mario Bros.". Nintendo even developed concept art for the then unnamed dinosaur, but due to the NES's technical limitations they could not incorporate the idea into the NES titles.

2. In this area of the game, we can visit the "Chocolate Secret" level and the "Donut Secret 2" level. Where are we?

From Quiz Where in "Super Mario World" Are We?

Answer: Valley of Bowser

In "Valley of Bowser", we are basically right on Bowser's doorstep. We can take a long route to his front door by passing through Larry's Castle, or we can take the back door route by defeating Reznor in the "Valley Fortress". We could visit the "Chocolate Secret" and "Donut Secret 2" levels, but we'd need to take pipes located around the world to reach them.

3. What is the level called that is right above the "Donut Ghost House"? (It is a secret level)

From Quiz Super Mario World

Answer: Top Secret Area

Top Secret Area is a little 'reinforcement station' that has two mushrooms (or flowers), two capes, and Yoshi.

4. How many children does Bowser have guarding his fortresses?

In order they are: Iggy, Morton, Lemming, Ludwig, Roy, Wendy, and Larry Koopa.

6. After defeating each Koopaling, there is a humourous cutscene where Mario disposes of the castle. Which castle literally explodes in Mario's face?

From Quiz Let's Play 10: "Super Mario World"

After defeating Roy Koopa, Mario rescues the egg and places explosives around the castle. He detonates the explosives from a safe distance away with the egg by his side; however, the castle does not explode. Mario goes to investigate, and then the castle explodes in his face. Another memorable scene is Ludwig Von Koopa's demise, where the castle takes off like a rocket and crashes into a nearby mountain. After the defeat of Ludwig, the mountain becomes a more prominent feature on the overworld map and sports a bandage due to the castle injury.

7. Which boss can be fought on Chocolate Island?

From Quiz Bosses of "Super Mario World"

Answer: Wendy

Wendy is basically the same boss as Lemmy, only she has a different battle arena. She should be relatively easy, but the hard part is navigating your way through her castle. In 1994, they released a second version of "Super Mario Bros. All-Stars" that included "Super Mario World". In 2007, Nintendo released "Super Mario World" on their Virtual Console service for the Wii.
