Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Cue Re Awe City
Answer: Curiosity
Curiosity is to be in a state where one's interest has been raised. It is a desire to know the whys and wherefores of any given topic. Further investigations may reveal the source, or an explanation, for that which piqued that interest in the first place.
2. Had More Hay Shun
Answer: Admiration
Admiration is a positive emotion where one is filled with wonder or delight at something that has pleased or amazed him or her. Examples of this could be a wonderful work of art, a lovely piece of music, an exquisite garden, or a delicious three course dinner that you didn't have to cook yourself.
3. Diss Higher
Answer: Desire
To desire something is to long or yearn for it strongly, or even overwhelmingly. That goal could be success, money, fame or love - or that delicious three course dinner that you didn't have to cook yourself.
4. Groat Tea Chewed
Answer: Gratitude
To be filled with gratitude is to be filled with feelings of thankfulness for any blessing, or a disaster that has been averted, or any event in your life which has evoked in you a feeling of deep appreciation. Why, that could even be an...um...delicious three course dinner that you didn't have to cook yourself.
5. Rave Vole Shone
Answer: Revulsion
Revulsion is a negative emotion where one is utterly repulsed and repelled by any sight or action which is complete anathema to all their beliefs and standards in life. One wishes to draw back in horror and repugnance at such ugliness. War, for example, and all the horror, suffering, death and destruction that entails, fills me with revulsion that mankind, after all the thousands of centuries that have flown by, still hasn't found the means whereby we can all peacefully co-exist. Jesus wept.
6. Crew Hell Tee
Answer: Cruelty
Cruelty is a terrible streak in some people that incites them to cause pain and suffering to others, or a delight in witnessing same. This is a terrible character flaw and emotion about which nothing positive at all can be said.
7. Try Hum Font
Answer: Triumphant
To feel triumphant is to be in that frame of mind where one wishes to celebrate something that has been achieved in some way, hopefully without causing distress to anyone else in the gaining of that goal. You could feel triumphant about passing your exams, or performing a beautiful song to perfection, or even winning a game of some kind that has been played in the spirit of good sportsmanship between all parties concerned.
It should never deteriorate to gloating at the misfortune of others.
8. Rill Leaf
Answer: Relief
To feel relief is to be filled with a sense of relaxation that something unpleasant has passed, for example, or that some long term hard won goal has finally been reached. Relief in a sense though is more to do with stress or pain having been removed or averted, rather than a goal having been reached.
It's a negative positive if that makes sense. If you're a really bad cook, for example, and you've foolishly invited a group of nuns for dinner, you may feel relief that the meal turned out beautifully and didn't, as on two previous occasions, put your guests in hospital.
9. Rim Maws
Answer: Remorse
To feel remorse for anything is to be filled with regret and sorrow at some unpleasant action or event which you have either directly or indirectly caused, or for which you have somehow been responsible. For the most part, this is not the same as something that has accidentally happened, but something that was done deliberately. Putting nuns or old ladies in hospital with your cooking is an accident - but trying to poison them is deliberate.
10. Hem Bear Is Meant
Answer: Embarrassment
To be embarrassed is to be overcome with feelings of mortification and humiliation at being in some situation in which you have appeared to be ridiculous, or made to look foolish - and which some unkind quiz writer tends to laugh at instead of sympathising.
This could be something momentous such as an accidental wardrobe malfunction while giving a speech to a room filled with members of the "Dress Modestly in Public Brigade", or smiling with what you think is an alluring manner at a new boyfriend - but with your teeth covered in lipstick.
