Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Christopher Robin and Winnie-The-Pooh are introduced and we find that Winnie-The-Pooh likes stories that are all about him. The first story is about a creature that produces his favourite food. What buzzy creature is it?

Answer: Bee

Pooh Bear loves honey and while walking in the Hundred Acre Wood he hears a buzzing sound coming from the top of a very tall oak tree. He knows that bees buzz and he knows they make honey and he believes the only reason they make honey is so he can eat it.
2. Winnie-The-Pooh goes to visit his friend Rabbit who lives in a burrow underground and with just a hole for a door. What happens when Pooh decides it's time to leave?

Answer: He gets stuck in Rabbit's door

I don't think Rabbit would invite him to live there, as Pooh Bear has just eaten all of Rabbit's honey and condensed milk. When he tries to climb out through the hole his tummy is too big and he becomes stuck.
Luckily Rabbit has a back door and goes to find Christopher Robin. They pull and they push but Pooh Bear won't budge.
Christopher Robin decides all they can do is wait for Pooh bear to get thinner and he sits outside Rabbit's house and reads to Pooh while Rabbit uses the back end of Pooh to hang his wet washing on!
After a week Christopher Robin decides it's time to dislodge his friend. He takes hold of Pooh Bear's front paws, and Rabbit takes hold of Christopher Robin and Rabbit's friends and relations all take hold of Rabbit and they PULL and PULL!
Suddenly there's a loud POP! and Winnie-The-Pooh is free :-)
3. Piglet is Winnie-The-Pooh's best friend and he lives in the trunk of a large beech tree. One snowy winter's day Piglet and Pooh Bear go looking for something. What are they looking for?

Answer: A woozle

Piglet has noticed Pooh Bear walking around and around a spinney (a spinney is a small group of trees or bushes).
When Piglet asks Pooh what he is doing, Pooh replies that he is tracking something and shows Piglet the paw prints in the snow.
Piglet is very excited thinking it might be a Woozle and he joins Pooh Bear. Before long they notice there are now two sets of prints in the snow.

Have you guessed who the paw prints belong to?

Silly Pooh Bear and Piglet, the paw prints belong to them!

I can't tell you what a Woozle is, or what it looks like, because I don't know and I don't think Piglet or Pooh Bear know either.
4. One day Winnie-The-Pooh goes to visit his friend Eeyore, an old grey donkey, and discovers that Eeyore has lost something. What has Eeyore lost?

Answer: His tail.

A tail is very important to a donkey and Pooh Bear tells Eeyore that he will find it.
Up, down and around the Hundred Acre Wood Pooh Bear tramps but no sign of Eeyore's tail can he find. Then he remembered his friend Owl, a wise bird, who lives in a Chestnut tree. Pooh Bear felt sure that Owl would know where to find Eeyore's tail.

Owl had a brand new bell rope by the side of his door but Pooh, being a Bear of 'very little brain', does not realise at first how much the bell rope looks like a missing donkey's tail.
The story has a happy ending. Eeyore is reunited with his tail and Winnie-The-Pooh goes home for a little snack :-)
5. Piglet and Winnie-The-Pooh decide to catch a Heffalump. Piglet says he will dig a big hole and he tells Pooh Bear to fetch something to put in the hole to attract the Heffalump's attention. What does Piglet ask Pooh Bear to fetch?

Answer: A jar of honey.

Pooh Bear isn't very happy to use one of his jars of honey, just in case the Heffalump eats it, but he's a good Bear and checks that the jar really does have honey in it. He has to eat almost all the honey to make sure, before taking it back to Piglet.
That night Pooh Bear dreams about a Heffalump eating his honey.
Piglet dreams that he is being chased by an angry Heffalump.
Piglet decides to get up early to see if they've caught a Heffalump. He peeps over the side of the hole and sees a creature and hears a roar. Terrified he runs to get Christopher Robin.

Do you know what a Heffalump looks like?

Well Pooh Bear, Piglet and Christopher Robin think they look like big elephants with long tusks.
When Christopher Robin looks into the trap, he sees that this Heffalump looks like a Pooh Bear with his head stuck in a honey jar!
6. It's Eeyore's birthday and he's very sad because no one has remembered. When Winnie-The-Pooh and Piglet find out, what do they bring him for his birthday?

Answer: An empty jar of honey and a burst balloon.

Poor Eeyore spends a lot of time feeling sad and he's convinced no one bothers to think about him. Winnie-The Pooh comes to the rescue with a jar of honey but it's a long journey to where Eeyore lives and he gets hungry and eats the honey.

Piglet wants to be the first to give Eeyore a present. As he is running through the wood with the balloon, he trips. BANG! Goes the balloon.
But, you know, Eeyore didn't mind because the burst balloon was red, his favourite colour, and it fitted in his useful empty jar of honey.
7. A new animal and her baby have come to live in The Hundred Acre Woods. What are they called?

Answer: Kanga and Roo.

No one is sure how Kanga and Roo appear in The Hundred Acre Woods or where they came from.
Kanga has a pocket or a pouch that she carries Roo around in.
In this story Kanga pretends that Piglet is really Roo. Kanga hops home with Piglet in her pouch and gives him something he doesn't like, a bath and Roo's medicine!
8. Christopher Robin decides to lead an expedition to the North Pole. During the journey, which of these things happen?

Answer: All of these things happen.

Pooh Bear does sit on a thistle which upsets Eeyore because donkeys like to eat thistles, before someone sits on them!
Little Roo does fall in the river but is rescued by Pooh Bear, who puts a pole across the river for Roo to climb onto.
When Christopher Robin sees the the pole he realises it is the North Pole they have been looking for.
Pooh bear went home feeling very happy and decided to have a little something to eat.
9. It has been raining for days and days in The Hundred Acre Wood and Piglet is trapped. The water has completely surrounded his tree house. From his bedroom window he throws out a message in a bottle asking for help. Which friend comes up with the clever idea for rescuing Piglet?

Answer: Winnie-The-Pooh.

Winnie-The-Pooh, 'Bear of little brain' comes up with a very clever idea. Pooh Bear suggests to Christopher Robin that they use his umbrella.
Christopher Robin opens his umbrella, turns it upside down and off they sail to rescue Piglet.
The umbrella, or boat as it is now, is named 'The Brain of Pooh'.
10. Here we say goodbye to Winnie-The-Pooh (for the moment) but not before Christopher Robin decides to give Pooh Bear a party. What special present is Pooh Bear given?

Answer: A pencil case full of pencils and a ruler for making lines and an India rubber (eraser) for rubbing out mistakes.

I think Pooh Bear deserves his special present, don't you?
The pencils are either marked B for Bear, HB for Helpful Bear and BB for Brave Bear.
I'm not sure the markings mean this, but Pooh Bear and all his friends think so, and he is a helpful brave Bear.

I hope you have enjoyed this quiz and remember whether you are 5 years old or a 105 yrs old Winnie-The-Pooh books will bring tears of laughter.
