Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What are you if you have 'Passed into the arms of God'?

Answer: dead

Also used to mean dead are just plain 'passed', 'expired', 'gone to meet his or her maker', 'in a happier place', and countless other ones.
2. What is a 'Slumber Room'?

Answer: The room in which the deceased's body is laid out for viewing.

This is the room where people go to 'view' the deceased the night before the actual funeral. I suppose some people find this comforting, but I've always thought it a bit barbaric.
3. When somebody has been 'Temporarily Preserved' have they been embalmed?

Answer: Yes

Embalming can also be referred to as 'sanitary, or hygienic treatment'.
4. Where is 'Babyland', in the funeral business?

Answer: A special part of the cemetery.

Reserved for infants and very young children, this is the saddest part of a cemetery.
5. What is an 'Interment Space'?

Answer: A grave

People don't dig graves anymore, they create 'openings in the interment spaces'. Bodies are transported to the 'Interment Space' in a 'Casket Coach', or a hearse.
6. Are 'Cremains' cremated remains?

Answer: Yes

These are also more commonly referred to as 'ashes'.
7. Is 'Grief Therapy' a counselling service offered to the family of the deceased?

Answer: depends on the funeral home

'Grief Therapy' can also be referred to as the viewing of your loved one before the funeral, which takes place in the 'Slumber Room'. Some funeral homes do have trained counsellors to provide legitimate grief therapy, so the expression may or may not refer to a counselling session.
8. 'Burn and scatter' is an euphemism for a funeral service which involves scattering ashes.

Answer: Yes

The scattering of 'cremains' at sea is sometimes less delicately referred to as a 'bake and shake'.
9. Do most cemeteries with the word 'lawn' in their names allow headstones?

Answer: No

This type of cemetery uses ground markers instead. This makes upkeep of the grounds easier, and less time-consuming. However as with most rules, there are exceptions.
10. Who might be a customer in a 'Pre-need Sale'?

Answer: All of these.

A 'Pre-Need Sale' is simply a funeral service that's sold before anyone is actually dead.
