Metaphysics of Kant Trivia Quiz

German philosophy seems so rigid yet so mystical. I am certain Indian and Buddhist philosophy differs not so significantly from Immanuel Kant.

Answer: Aristotle

Aristotle believed that all cognitions were derived from experiences with space and time, so that all judgments were in fact empirical, ruling out all intuitive judgments and a priori syntheses. However, Kant was really influenced more by Plato's notions of Ideas and the need to obtain a priori concepts from pure ideas which exist outside space and time.

10. Lastly, what was the form of philosophy Kant developed in order to systematize the a priori forms of human cognition?

Answer: Transcendental idealism

A priori thinking is perhaps best illustrated by Einstein's ability to visualize a space-time which was curved due to the force of gravity. Kant broke this transcendental philosophy into aesthetics and logic. Logic dealt with different categories and modes of thought, while aesthetics dealt with the representation of reality. I like to think of transcendental aesthetics as the field Maya (Indian temptress).
