This was Janet's first long novel after writing at least one book set in each state for Harlequin Romance.
2. What was the name of Sheila's fiance?

Answer: Brad

Brad turned out to be a real jerk...and Sheila was much better off without him!
3. What was the name of the leader of the rebel band who captured Sheila and took her to their hideout?

Answer: Rafaga

Rafaga, meaning "like the wind."
4. Sheila tried to escape, and was punished for it. What was that method of punishment?

It was a harsh punishment, but one that made sense to those in the band.
5. Laredo told Sheila he missed something back home. What was it?

Answer: A hot butterscotch sundae wiith whipped cream, nuts and cherry on top

An ice cream sundae does sound good!
6. Sheila was given a horse. What was the horse's name?

Answer: Arriba

She loved the horse, and it was shot out from under her during her escape attempt.
7. One of the band members tried to rape Sheila, and she defended herself, marking him. How did she do this, and was thus able to prove her claims she was attacked?

Answer: She stabbed him

It was no less than he deserved...
8. Rafaga and Sheila were leaving the camp to do something when they were spotted by a soldier patrol. What were they planning to do?

Answer: Get married

They barely left the camp, on their way to get married, before they were spotted.
9. In the soldier camp, Laredo shared with Sheila what his real name was. What was it?

Answer: Scott Ludlow

Interesting factoid: Laredo appears in one of Janet Dailey's Calder books, years after the events of TTW, and is "paired up with" Jessy Calder.
10. What is the final sentence of the book?

Answer: "She ran to him."

Janet was later asked if there would ever be a sequel to TTW. The reply was no, but she did say what happened to Rafaga and Sheila:
Rafaga's real name was Raul Cordero. He and Sheila got married and their son was named Diego. Through her father, Raul and Scott (Laredo) gained amnesty, and the Corderos had a ranch in Mexico.
