Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Why did Jan and Todd Wolfhouse travel to Germany?

Answer: To spread their Grandfather's ashes

Jan and Todd's great-grandmother asked them to deliver their grandfather's ashes to a friend in Germany for a ceremony. She told them to meet Mr. Schniedelwichsen at Oktoberfest, who would lead them to the ceremony. When the brothers learned that they would be in Germany for Oktoberfest, they were more than happy to go. They would soon find an even better event, though.
2. Who studied the composition of beer in college and later discovered how "Das Boot" worked?

Answer: Fink

Steve 'Fink' Finklestein went to college with Barry, Jan, and Todd and apparently studied everything, including beer. Fink had been published for an experiment with drunken recall, which was what they used on Todd to help him remember where BeerFest was being held. He also figured out that they had to spin the boot in order to not spill it while drinking.
3. Where had Landfill previously worked, before being sent to jail?

Answer: Brewery

Landfill was fired for drinking 40 beers off the assembly line at the brewery. The details surrounding what happened after were fuzzy, but they included a hostage negotiator and Landfill's conversion to Islam while in prison. Jan and Todd asked him to be on the team because he could drink beer really fast.
4. Who on the American team was the best at drinking games?

Answer: Barry

When the team went to recruit Barry, they found that he had become a male prostitute. They recruited him for the team because he was the best at quarters and beer pong, but Todd was against it because Barry and Todd's wife had had an affair a few years back. Barry was played by the director of the film, Jay Chandrasekhar.
5. After the team's first night of training, where did Barry find himself in the morning?

Answer: Naked in the woods

When Barry woke up, he was naked in the woods with blood on his mouth and lying next to a dead deer. He groaned "Not again..." and ran off.
6. Which Beerfest team was the American team's rival?

Answer: The Germans

The German team's grandfather owned the largest brewery in Bavaria and hosted Beerfest. The Germans also shared the same great-grandfather as Jan and Todd.

The rivalry was rather complicated. Jan and Todd's great-grandmother was not married to their great-grandfather, but had an affair with him. When she had a child, she and her son were chased out of Bavaria because of the affair. But before being chased out, their grandfather had stolen the family's secret beer recipe. The Germans wanted it back, while Jan and Todd knew that their grandfather was the rightful heir because he was oldest.
7. Which of these was not something the American team did to become better drinkers?

Answer: Drinking while running on a treadmill

It was the German team that trained with treadmills, not the Americans. Todd and Jan's Great Gam Gam mentioned that Germans became better drinkers by drinking ram urine, because if you could drink that then you could drink anything. She also mentioned that Germans drank in the mountains, which the American team also tried, although they had to settle for the top of a building. Going to a college party was Fink's idea.
8. Who said this quote: "I wish it were winter so we could freeze it into ice blocks and skate on it, and then melt it in the spring time and drink it!"?

Answer: Barry

Barry said this after tasting the secret beer recipe for the first time. According to the German team, who felt that Todd and Jan's grandfather had stolen the recipe, it was the greatest beer in the world. Because it tasted so good, the Americans were able to use it to become better drinkers while training for Beerfest.
9. How did the American team sneak into Beerfest?

Answer: They snuck in using a Trojan Barrel.

Once they found the location of Beerfest, Todd unwittingly said last year's password and they were not allowed to enter. To get inside, they made a "Trojan Barrel" and left it as a gift, with themselves inside. When Baron Wolfgang von Wolfhaus realized this, he at first wanted to kick them out.

However the German team wanted to humiliate them again and the crowd wanted the Americans to stay, so he let them compete.
10. Which game was used as a tiebreaker in the final round of Beerfest?

Answer: Das Boot

Spoiler:
The American team lost the first three rounds to the Germans and then turned it around and won the next three. The competition was best of four, so to break the tie they competed in "Das Boot", a speed drinking relay race with a glass boot filled with beer at the end. The Americans lost at first because Cherry distracted Landfill, causing him to spill. However, the Americans challenged the Germans to a rematch by betting their secret recipe and the Americans ended up winning.
