She knocked on the door, went inside and her mother was lying dead with flies buzzing around her, indicating she'd been dead for a while. All Dakota was left with was a couple of hundred dollars.

But as she climbs up a slope in the graveyard, the battery on her false leg runs down, leaving her to drag her leg behind her, using the shovel to pull herself forwards.
