It actually is NOT Endor. Listen carefully to what is said, they land on THE FOREST MOON OF ENDOR. So, in fact, they went to one of Endor's moons, not Endor itself.

Most of the saga has its own language, a series of symbols and shapes. However, in 'A New Hope' a set piece accidentally had English words on it. That was the tractor beam control tower which Obi-Wan shuts off. It has POWER printed largely on it with tractor beam in smaller letters. Go figure!
