Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What did Billy like to take in his lunch?

Answer: Snack Pack

It seemed that Snack Packs (individually-packaged pudding made by Hunt's) were Billy's favourite treat. On his first day of school, he got mad that Juanita packed him a banana instead of a Snack Pack, and then tried to trade his banana to a little kid who had a Snack Pack.

The kid refused with a big smile on his face. When Billy 'graduated' third grade and had a party, Veronica brought him a big package of Snack Packs as a gift.
2. What didn't Billy like about the book "The Puppy Who Lost His Way"?

Answer: The kid stopped looking for the dog.

Miss Lippy read this book to Billy's first grade class. When she was finished reading, Billy objected angrily to the book, saying that the kid was irresponsible to look for an hour and give up, and that, "He didn't put posters up or anything, he just sat on the porch like a goon and waited!" In Billy's opinion, which he stated in language far too strong for a first grade class, a dog owner has a responsibility to get out there and find that dog at all costs.
3. What word did Billy (eventually) spell correctly to win the second grade spelling bee?

Answer: Couch

One of the things that Billy found out at the beginning of the movie was that his father had paid off his teachers to let Billy win a spelling bee in first grade, even though he spelt the work 'rock' without the 'c'. Billy had a chance to redeem himself when he re-did second grade, by spelling the word 'couch'.

It was a close call though, as he at first said "C-O-R..." but covered it up by saying, "Are... you going to the mall later?" He then spelled the word correctly, and when his teacher told him he won, he yelled out, "I am the smartest man alive!"
4. What video game did Billy think was the best ever?

Answer: Donkey Kong

This came up during one of the lunch room scenes when Billy was in elementary school. One of the little kids remarked that he thought "Mortal Kombat" on Sega Genesis was the best game ever, and Billy politely disagreed, saying that "Mortal Kombat" was a very good game, but that he thought "Donkey Kong" was the best.

The kid told Billy that "Donkey Kong" sucked, and Billy got upset and yelled, "You know something, you suck!"
5. What letter of the alphabet did Billy have trouble writing in cursive?

Answer: Z

When Billy started his two weeks in the third grade, his teacher, Veronica Vaughn, didn't like him very much. She decided to make an example out of him by inviting him up to the blackboard to write some words in cursive. They were baseball-themed words, and Ms. Vaughn asked Billy to write 'Rizzuto' (as in baseball player Phil Rizzuto). Billy paused when he got to the z's and eventually wrote something that resembled an 'r' made out of squiggly lines. Ms. Vaughn and the whole class laughed at Billy.
6. At one point in the movie, Billy tried to fake sick in order to stay home from school. Juanita told him that if he was going to stay home, he would have to do what task?

Answer: Help her shave her armpits

After having a bad day at school, Billy wanted to stay home in bed. Juanita took his temperature and looked at him skeptically. Billy promised her that he was really sick, so she said he could stay home and help her shave her armpits. Billy looked disgusted and wisely decided to go to school.
7. What did the bus driver yell on the bus?

Answer: "No yelling on the bus!"

When Billy's third grade class went on a field trip, they had a bus driver (played by Chris Farley) who seemed to have an anger management problem. On the way to the field trip, he muttered to himself a lot and his face turned bright red. After the kids boarded the bus for the return trip, the driver got on behind them and yelled, "No yelling on the bus!" The driver, along with Billy's adult friends, also ate all of the kids' lunches.

It was also on this field trip that Billy's friend Ernie peed his pants, leading Billy to pretend he peed his pants too, so the kids would think Ernie was cool for doing what Billy did.
8. Which minor character "got a hemorrhage in [his] head"?

Answer: The clown

The clown on stilts at one of Billy's 'graduation' parties fell down on the concrete near the pool and blood started draining from his mouth. Towards the end of the movie, when Veronica and all the kids showed up at Billy's house to motivate him, and they all performed the big song and dance number, it was revealed that the clown was still lying there, weeks later.

He jumped up and joined in on the song, singing, "Hey kids, it's me! I bet you thought that I was dead. But when I fell over I just broke my leg and got a hemorrhage in my head!" and laughed a hearty clown laugh.
9. What sort of reward system did Veronica come up with to help Billy study for the academic decathlon?

Answer: For every question Billy got right, she would get a little more naked

Everyone in Billy's life tried to help him prepare for the big academic decathlon at the end of the movie. Veronica helped by quizzing Billy in his tent; every time he answered a question correctly, she undressed a little. Billy then got stumped when she asked for the year that the Spanish Armada was defeated.

He made several incorrect guesses, and when he finally said "1986?", Veronica started re-dressing, causing Billy to become frustrated and shout out, "Please God, give me the answer!"
10. At the end of the academic decathlon, Billy was asked a question about the Industrial Revolution. After a speaking for awhile, the school principal, dumbfounded, said, "Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and..." What phrase completes the quote?

Answer: "May God have mercy on your soul."

In the final round of the decathlon, both Eric and Billy had to choose a category for each other to answer a question from. Eric chose the Industrial Revolution as Billy's category and Billy was asked, "The Industrial Revolution changed the face of the modern novel forever. Discuss, citing specific examples." Billy gave a long rambling answer that referred to a book Miss Lippy had read his first grade class called "The Puppy Who Lost His Way".

When he was done and noticed the crowd was just staring at him, Billy finished with "Knibb High football rules!", a parody of the film "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" (1989), to get the audience to cheer for him.

When they were quiet again, the principal delivered the quote in the question, and Billy replied, "Ok, a simple 'wrong' would have done just fine..." Luckily for Billy, Eric did not fare any better with his question from the category Business Ethics, and Billy ended up winning.
