Scenes From Movies Trivia Quiz

Try to guess what the movie is from my description. I use multiple choice only for sequels. This also makes a great game for lengthy car trips (thanks, Carla).

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Charlton Heston and Stephen Boyd race to the death:

Answer: Ben Hur

For the record, no one was killed in the filming of the chariot race in this 1959 classic.
2. Woody Allen's life is traced through a childhood of smashed spectacles and flying cellos.

Answer: Take The Money And Run

One of the few times I laughed to the point of exhaustion.
3. The 'Deathmobile' roars into the chaos that was the Faber College Homecoming Parade.

Answer: Animal House

One of the few scene that will get me shouting in a theatre.
4. Gary Busey bursts Adam Baldwin's eardrums (and his own windows) in showing off his new sound system in his car.

Answer: D.C. Cab

Definitely a guilty pleasure. I also loved Busey's admonition to never work on Elvis' birthday!
5. A contest with Richard Dreyfuss as to who has the ugliest scar prompts Robert Shaw to reveal his days aboard the USS Indianapolis.

Answer: Jaws

IMHO, one of the best monologues in the cinema.
6. Eric Christmas has a showdown with Nancy Parsons over how to identify a juvenile based only on his anatomy while two coaches are dying laughing in the corner.

Answer: Porky's

7. The climatic football game between the Guards and the Mean Machine.

Answer: The Longest Yard

All are excellent football films.
8. Ryan O'Neal and Barbara Streisand are chased through the streets of San Francisco by a plethora of mobsters, secret agents, musicologists and a Chinese dragon.

Answer: What's Up, Doc?

This film was also the debut of Madeline Khan in a hilarious stint as a neurotic fiancee.
9. Gene Wilder chokes Marty Feldman, who borrowed the brain of 'Abby Normal'.

Answer: Young Frankenstein

Also when anyone mentioned the name of Frau Bleucher.
10. Harrison Ford deals with a expert scimitar-wielding maniac by simply shooting him and moving on.

Answer: Raiders Of The Lost Ark

According to movie buffs, Ford was battling a nasty stomach illness and suggested the quicker (and much funnier) ending out of the blue.
11. Patrick McGoohan converses with a friend of his son's, for the purpose of moving him to the nearest window to throw him out to his death.

Answer: Braveheart

McGoohan was positively evil as Edward I, the Long-shanks, setting him off perfectly against Mel Gibson's William Wallace. This scene took a lot of flack for being supposedly anti-gay. I just thought McGoohan's comic timing was immpeccable.
12. Any point in the film that Brian Blessed showed up as Prince Vultan of the Hawkmen.

Answer: Flash Gordon

Blessed's exuberance and the soundtrack by Queen put me in the theatre to see this movie SEVEN times (ah, to be young with money again).
13. Tom Laughlin kicks a bunch of redneck butt after they harass some students and children in an ice cream parlor.

Answer: Billy Jack

"I just go beSERK!"
14. Christopher Plummer as a one-eyed Klingon, spouts Shakespeare as he pits himself against the Enterprise.

Answer: Star Trek VI

THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY-'Cry 'Havok!' and let slip the Dogs of War' ('Julius Caesar', Act 3, Scene 1).
15. The sequence titled, 'The Dawn Of Man' and the first appearance of the black monolith.

Answer: 2001: A Space Odyssey

It has always held my attention up until the flying bone turns into a spaceship. Don't ask what happens to me after that.
16. Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt are enjoying a windstorm while Jaime Gertz yells over the phone to a client, 'I gotta go Julia, we got cows!'

Answer: Twister

Funny thing, coming from a resident of Tornado Alley.
17. Nicholas Cage dealing with both a kidnapped infant and Holly Hunter on a jaunt for diapers.

Answer: Raising Arizona

I saw this on my wedding night. My wife would kill me if I didn't mention it.
18. Matthew Broderick interrupts the Chicago parade to sing 'Danke Shoen' and 'Twist and Shout'.

Answer: Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Alan Ruck nearly stole the show in comedy.
19. Wil Weaton tells River Phoenix, Jerry O'Connel and Corey Feldman the story, 'The Revenge of Lard-Ass Hogan'.

Answer: Stand By Me

One of the better adaptations of a Stephen King story. The filming of the 'Lard-Ass' story is one of the great up-chuck scenes in movie history, next to Monty Python's 'Mr Creosote' in 'Meaning Of Life' and the dinner scene in 'Porky's 2:The Next Day'.
20. Defense lawyer Spencer Tracy gets prosecutor Fredrick March on the witness stand to defend his beliefs.

Answer: Inherit The Wind

One of the great courtroom dramas in cinema history, it retells the actual 1925 Scopes 'Monkey Trial' regarding evolution being taught in the classroom.
