What an exciting time in history this was, with prohibition, the Great Depression and lawlessness. Johnny Depp, playing John Dillinger in "Public Enemies" is far more intriguing than the real John Dillinger was. Johnny has made his name on the Silver Screen for more than twenty years.

He is known for his fantasy-type roles such as "Alice in Wonderland", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", just to name three. In my opinion, he will go down as one of the greats of Hollywood.

2. I have seen several "Batman" movies, but the perfect star plays in the 2005 movie about what got him started in crime fighting and how he got his name. Which actor is it?

Answer: Christian Bale

There have been several "Batman" portrayals, including two films by Tim Burton that starred Michael Keaton, but in my mind, Christian Bale is the ideal "Batman". Even though other stars, such as Val Kilmer and George Clooney have played him in the past, Christian Bale is excellent in "Batman Begins".

The "Dark Knight", with the late Heath Ledger as the Joker, topped the money-making movie charts and was a true blockbuster. A tidbit of information about Christian, who comes from a show-business family - his father had married Gloria Steinem, the feminine activist in 2000.

3. My favorite series of movies began with the action-packed thriller about an archeologist and professor in the late 1930s and early 1940s, who leaves his university classroom to attain historical treasures for the museum. Who plays Doctor Jones?

Answer: Harrison Ford

No one else but Harrison Ford could ever be Indiana Jones in "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "The Temple of Doom", "The Last Crusade", and "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". Tom Selleck was the first choice of the studio, but he wasn't able to take the part because of television obligations. Even though I love Tom Selleck, Harrison Ford as Indy, with his brown Fedora, leather jacket and whip, epitomizes the thrilling and intelligent archaeologist.

Indiana Jones has been rated by "Time Magazine" (in 2010) as the #2 fictional character of all time, with Sherlock Holmes being #1. Harrison Ford played Han Solo in several "Star Wars" films, and an American President in "Air Force One".

He also starred in "The Fugitive" and as one of my favorite characters in "The Frisco Kid".

4. Jack Sparrow is a dashing pirate who lights up the screen. Who plays this swashbuckling captain of the Black Pearl?

Answer: Johnny Depp

Another iconic character that cannot be duplicated is Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series of movies. If not perfectly good, he is not evil either. These movies are good family entertainment and I think many people, especially those who like fantasy and action, would agree. Johnny Depp is versatile and would do justice to any role offered him. From fantasy to horror and all genres in-between, Johnny Depp can tackle them all.

5. When I think of the land down under, I think of a movie describing what happens there before World War II and when the Japanese bomb the city of Darwin. This is a great movie with beautiful scenery and a tribute to the people of the country. Who plays the drover?

Answer: Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman is pure "Australia"! This 2008 movie is a sweeping saga with stars that emanate their Australian heritage. This movie attempts to do for Australia what "Gone With the Wind" did for America. It is an exciting and beautiful movie that is enjoyable for all.

The Sydney born Hugh Jackman is an excellent singer, dancer and stage and movie actor and was voted the Sexiest Man Alive by "People" magazine in 2008.

6. The story of Scotland's hero, William Wallace, who was executed by Edward I of England for treason, is expertly played by which actor?

Answer: Mel Gibson

Who could have done it better? Mel Gibson becomes William Wallace in "Braveheart", the blockbuster classic that won five Oscars. What is amusing is that tourism in Scotland doubled after the movie came out but it was not filmed in Scotland at all. "Braveheart" was filmed in Ireland! Mel Gibson was born in New York and his family moved to Sydney when he was twelve.

At least one or two of his movies must appear on everyone's list of favorites. "The Patriot", with the late Heath Ledger, is excellent and one of my favorites.

7. I remember "Ocean's Eleven" many years ago with Frank Sinatra. The remake is even better. Who plays Danny Ocean in the remake?

Answer: George Clooney

The entire cast of the "Oceans" movies are wonderful but who could be more sophisticated or clever than George Clooney as Danny Ocean? As much as I liked Frank Sinatra, George was better. The original "Oceans Eleven", from 1960, starred the Rat Pack, consisting of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop, and Dean Martin.

The 2001 version had an A list of Hollywood stars with George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and the late, great Bernie Mac. From his early start on American television to his career in movies, this nephew of the late singer, Rosemary Clooney, always pleases.

8. This was the tagline of a 2008 movie - "This Summer: Heroes Aren't Born, They're Built". I didn't think I would like this movie and ended up putting it on my all-time list of favorites. Who plays Tony Stark, the lead role?

Answer: Robert Downey, Jr.

This is a jewel of a movie and Robert Downey, Jr. is excellent as the "Iron Man". Tony Stark's wealth comes in handy when he uses technology to fight evil. I hope there are many sequels to come after "Iron Man 2". In his youth, Robert Downey, Jr. had his problems with substance abuse but it seems that those dark days are over and he is accomplishing a lot on the silver screen, including a terrific performance as Sherlock Holmes.

9. During the reign of Richard the Lionheart in England came a hero to those in Nottingham. The story of this man of courage and ability is one of those exciting movies that is irresistible. Which Oscar winning actor plays the lead role in the 2010 version?

Answer: Russell Crowe

I am sure that Russell Crowe can play any role and do it well. From a "Gladiator" to having "A Beautiful Mind" to the English hero, Robin Longstride or "Robin Hood" as he is known, Russell Crowe succeeds at everything he tries. Paired with Cate Blanchett as Marion Loxley, it is well crafted and directed by Ridley Scott, who always does a great job with historical films. Russell Crowe was born in New Zealand but moved to Australia when he was six.

He is co-owner of the South Sydney Rugby League Team and when he is not on location, he lives in the Sydney area.

10. I can remember the television series with Peter Graves and the tape that self-destructed in ten seconds that was the model for this exciting series of movies, starring an actor who has been a heart throb for many years. Who plays Ethan Hunt, the lead star?

Answer: Tom Cruise

I couldn't have had a quiz on movies with their male stars and miss having Tom Cruise in "Mission Impossible". He is really believable in the role of Ethan Hunt, part of the Impossible Missions Force. His athleticism and fearlessness in performing his own stunts has made him a truly believable hero. Tom's films are almost guaranteed to be blockbusters at the box office.
