Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to Genesis 5, what man lived to the age of 930 years?

Answer: Adam

Genesis 5:3-5 - "When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.

Interestingly, according to the lineage account from Adam to Noah in Genesis 5, Adam would have still been alive long enough to see Noah's father (Lamech) reach the age of 56. Lamech was Adam's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson. Lamech had Noah at the age of 182.
2. What biblical character had his name changed from meaning 'a high father' to meaning 'father of a multitude'?

Answer: Abram

Genesis 17:5 - "No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations."

Abram answered God's call at the age of 75 to leave his homeland of Ur and to travel to the land of Canaan (Gen. 12:5), along with his wife Sarai and nephew Lot. The Lord promised Abraham that his descendants would be more numerous than the stars, but Abram could not wait, and fathered a child on his maidservant. Ishmael became the ancestor of the Arab nations. After the Lord gave Abram his new name, Abraham (at the age of 100) and newly named wife Sarah had their promised child, Isaac. After Sarah's death, Abraham remarried, having six more children (Gen. 25). Abraham died at the age of 175.
3. According to Numbers, what were the Kohathites tasked to carry?

Answer: The Ark of the Covenant

Numbers 7:9 - "But Moses did not give any to the Kohathites, because they were to carry on their shoulders the holy things, for which they were responsible."

The Ark of the Covenant carried the Mercy Seat and the Veil, and of course the two tablets containing the ten commandments. Scholars also believe that it was a reliquary for the pot of Manna and the rod of Aaron.
4. I am son to Amram and Jochebed, elder brother to Miriam and Moses, husband to Elisheba, and father of Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. What is my name?

Answer: Aaron

Numbers 26:59 - "the name of Amram's wife was Jochebed, a descendant of Levi, who was born to the Levites in Egypt. To Amram she bore Aaron, Moses and their sister Miriam."

Exodus 6:23 - "Aaron married Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab and sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar."

Aaron is first mentioned in the bible in Exodus 4:14 when God suggests that he might speak for Moses. Later, he became the first in the line of the Levitical priesthood.
5. When the Israelites came to the land of Canaan, they found the land already occupied by the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Jebusites, and who else?

Answer: Both of these

Numbers 13:29 - "The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan."

After Moses sent 12 spies into the land, ten of them came back afraid, saying that those already in the land were too strong to defeat, but in Numbers 13:30, one of the other two spies said something different: "Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.""
6. From 874 until 869 BC, the kingdoms of Israel and Judah were simultaneously ruled by kings whose names both began with the letter A. Who were they?

Answer: Ahab and Asa

Abijah ruled Israel from 913 to 910 BC, and he was succeeded by Asa who reigned from 910 until 869 BC (a coregency with Jehoshaphat from 872 to 869 BC).

In Judah, Ahab succeeded his father Omri in the year 874 BC, and he reigned until his death in 853 BC, whereupon his son Ahaziah took the throne and held it for two years.

Of the four, Asa was the only one who was good. I Kings 15:11 - "Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done."
7. The New Testament (NIV) both begins and ends with 'A' words.

Answer: True

Matthew 1:1 - "A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham."

Revelation 22:21 - "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen."

And you may also notice that both verses refer to Jesus, who is, after all, the the entire reason behind the New Testament.
8. Who was the man who, along with his wife, was struck dead by God when Peter caught them in a lie?

Answer: Ananias

Acts 4:34,35 - "There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need."

Acts 5:1,2 - "Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet."

Peter explained how they could have honestly kept money back for themselves, as it was THEIR money, but in trying to claim that what they were giving WAS everything, they sinned against God. Verse 5 continues, "When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened."
9. The author of the book of Hebrews in the New Testament is unknown, but scholars believe that the likeliest candidates are Paul, Silas, Barnabas, or whom?

Answer: Apollos

"The epistle of Hebrews does not mention it's author other than stating what the Holy Spirit says in Hebrews 3:7. There have been a great number of theories for the author, only a few having a reasonable argument. Some of the authors suggested have been the apostle Paul, Barnabas, Apollos, Luke, Timothy, Aquilla, and Priscilla, Silas, Aristion and Philip the deacon.

There are only four more probable prospects for the authorship of Hebrews, the apostle Paul, Silas, Barnabas, and Apollos. The other candidates do not have sufficient support to even consider in light of the evidence." - quoted from abu.nb.ca
10. What word, associated with the four horsemen, is from the Greek for 'revelation'?

Answer: Apocalypse

"The term "apocalypse" was introduced by F. Lücke (1832) as a description of the New Testament book of Revelation. An apocalypse, in the terminology of early Jewish and Christian literature, is a revelation of hidden things given by God to a chosen prophet; this term is more often used to describe the written account of such a revelation." - quoted from wordiq.com
