5. Who were the original owners of the Dallas Cowboys?

Answer: Clint Murchison, Jr. and Bedford Wynne

The NFL approved an NFL franchise for the city of Dallas in 1960 to Clint Murchison, Jr. and Bedford Wynne. The NFL awarded a franchise license to Dallas in order to establish an NFL presence in the city, as Lamar Hunt had just established the AFL and had created his own franchise, the Dallas Texans.

The Dallas Texans eventually moved to Kansas City and became the Kansas City Chiefs. Murchison and Wynne eventually sold Cowboys to Bum Bright in 1984, and he sold the Cowboys to Jerry Jones in 1989.
6. The Dallas Cowboys have had numerous head coaches during the club's history. Which of the coaches below has *not* been a Dallas Cowboys head coach?

Answer: Tex Schramm

Tex Schramm was the Dallas Cowboys longtime General Manager from 1960 to 1989. Clint Murchison, Jr. and Bedford Wynne were "hands off" owners and allowed Tex Schramm to control the organization. Answer: Green Bay Packers

The NFL and AFL merged in 1970. There were four Super Bowls played before the two leagues became one. If the Dallas Cowboys had beaten the Green Bay Packers in their first NFL Championship game, they would have played the Kansas City Chiefs in the first AFL-NFL Championship game. If they had won their second NFL Championship game, they would have played the Oakland Raiders in the AFL-NFL Championship game.

The AFL-NFL Championship game was later named the "Super Bowl", taking that name for the first time in Super Bowl III.
8. In how many Super Bowls did Tom Landry lead the Dallas Cowboys, during his tenure as head coach?

Answer: Five

The Cowboys were defeated in Super Bowl V by the Baltimore Colts. Then, they defeated the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl VI for their first Super Bowl win. The Cowboys then lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl X. Two years later, the Cowboys defeated the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XII. The Cowboys lost again to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XIII.
9. Which starting quarterback led the Cowboys to a 13-3 record and an NFC East title in 2007?

Answer: Tony Romo

Quincy Carter started all 16 games in 2003, leading the Cowboys to a Wild Card playoff game against the Carolina Panthers. In the 2006 season, Drew Bledsoe was the starter for the first six games of the season. However, Tony Romo took over as quarterback at halftime during a game against the New York Giants and became the starter for the rest of the year, starting ten games.

He led the Cowboys to a Wild Card playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks, losing on a last second botched field goal attempt. Tony led the Cowboys to an NFC East title and a Divisional Playoff game after posting a 13-3 record in the 2007 season, starting all 16 games.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys lost this game to the division rival New York Giants, who went on to win Super Bowl XLII. Tony started all 16 games of the 2009 season, leading the Cowboys to an NFC East title and a Wild Card playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

They won this game 34-14 and then lost to the Minnesota Vikings 34-3 in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
10. The Dallas Cowboys posted an 0-11-1 record their first year as a franchise. Their first winning season came in 1966. After that, the Cowboys posted the longest streak of winning seasons in NFL history. How many winning seasons in a row did they have?

Answer: 20

After the Dallas Cowboys' first winning season in 1966, the Cowboys did not have another losing season until 1986.
Interesting fact: the Dallas Cowboys' record in 1982 was 6-3. A players' strike before the 1982 season led to a shortened 9 game season. This is the lowest win total in a winning season for the Dallas Cowboys.
