Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Dominique Moceanu, 1993 U.S. Olympic Festival?

Answer: In The Mood

She was only eleven at this meet, but it was aired on national television, and it was her first big exposure to the gymnastics fan base.
2. Lilia Podkopayeva, 1996 Olympic Games?

Answer: The Barber of Seville and Marriage of Figaro

She had the last routine of the night, and she won the all-around gold medal with this routine. A few days later, she would pick up an individual gold medal on floor with it as well.
3. Lavinia Milosovici, 1992 Olympic Games?

Answer: Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy

She also scored the most recent perfect ten in women's Olympic gymnastics with that music and routine - she got it in the individual event finals at that Games. It obviously picked her up the gold in that event - to go with her gold on vault from earlier in the night.
4. Kerri Strug, 1995 World Championships?

Answer: In The Hall of the Mountain King

Everyone remembers Kerri Strug's infamous vault, but she was a well-established veteran of the international circuit years before that. She was a member of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic team as well as the Atlanta team.
5. Jaime Danzscher and Morgan White, 1999 U.S. Championships?

Answer: My Drag

It caused quite a buzz. Everyone said that if both of them made the World Championship team, one of them was going to HAVE to change her music. However, their arrangements of the music were quite different, and it didn't seem to be necessary later. Both of them quickly changed their music in 2000 (the Olympic year).
6. Oksana Chusovitina, 1995 World Championships?

Answer: Phantom of the Opera

All of these were her routines at one time, yes, even Peer Gynt, which comes up AGAIN. But not, thankfully, in {'95;} there were enough gymnasts using that music that year. Oksana originally competed for the Soviet Union and the Unified Team, but after the breakup of the Soviet Union she competed for her home country of Uzbekistan.
7. Ludivine Furnon, 1995 World Championships?

Answer: In The Hall of the Mountain King

As you may have guessed, 'In The Hall of the Mountain King' is quite popular as floor music. Ludivine Furnon was France's most successful gymnast in the late 1990s and won France's first World Championship medal (bronze in floor exercise).
8. Allana Slater, 2000 Olympic Games?

Answer: I Still Call Australia Home

This also caused quite a scandal, because the music was the theme song of an Australian airline - but NOT the same Australian airline that was an official sponsor of the Sydney Olympic Games. She got away with using it, eventually, and it was a crowd favorite, too. "Waltzing Matilda" was used by one of her teammates at that same Games.
9. Andreea Raducan, 2000 Olympic Games?

Answer: Reel Around the Sun

That routine won her the Olympic gold, but she was later stripped of it because of a drug scandal involving cold pills that her trainer had given to her. Raducan was crushed.
10. Nadia Comaneci, 1976 Olympic Games - Yes, Sir, That's My Baby

Answer: True

No, the answer was not 'Nadia's Theme'
