2. When did George Reed retire as a Saskatchewan Roughrider running back?

Answer: June 1975

When George Reed retired in June of 1975, he was still the dominant fullback in the Canadian Football League. He had won a Grey Cup, had been a league MVP and was a perennial all-star, and held the all-time rushing yardage record for all of professional football.

In 13 seasons, starting in 1963, George Reed had established a new standard for running backs with his 16,116 career rushing yards.
3. Which team below did Bernie Faloney never suit up for?

5. In the CFL when two or more players touch a pass from scrimmage, who is credited with the reception and the yardage?

Answer: The final player to touch the ball

From the rulebook: The receiver is credited only with the number of passes caught and total yards gained. Where a pass is touched by two receivers the player making the final catch will be credited.
6. If a kickoff in the CFL goes out of bounds, which of the options below is not available to the receiving team?

Answer: Taking the ball at the 55 yard line

7. Which option below is not available to the scoring team after they have scored a safety touch?

Answer: The opponent can scrimmage from the opponents 35 yard line

From the rule book: After a safety touch, the scoring team may elect to have the ball next put into play as follows: (a) By scrimmaging the ball at its own 35 yard line, or (b) By kicking off from its own 35 yard line, or (c) By requiring the team scored against to kick off from its 35 yard line.
8. True or false: barring a penalty the only thing a team can do if they score a touchdown is kick-off to their opponent from their own 35 yard-line?

Answer: False

Their opponents can also choose to kick off to the scoring team. Not that they would, but the rules allow it.
9. Who did Damon Allen surpass in the 2000 season to become the CFL's most prolific passer?

Answer: Ron Lancaster

Lancaster finished his career with 50,535 yards in the air - Allen surpassed it against the Lancaster coached Tiger Cats in October 2000 at BC Place.
10. Which player has scored the most CFL touchdowns in a career as of the 2000 season?

Answer: George Reed

Reed scored 137 in his 13 seasons with Saskatchewan - Pitts is next with 111 and counting.
11. Who is the CFL's iron man for the most consecutive games played?

Even though Passaglia played more games (409), Cameron played 342 consecutive games with Winnipeg between 1980 and 1999.

Answer: Matt Dunnigan - 713

While in a Winnipeg uniform, Dunnigan threw for 713 yards on October 10th, 1994, surpassing Barrett's August 12th, 1993 mark of 601 yards. Until then, Etcheverry had the mark with his 1954 effort of 586. Flutie never did throw for 622 in a CFL game.
13. How far was the longest CFL field goal kicked in the 20th century?

Answer: 60 yards

Dave Ridgway kicked a 60 yarder in a Saskatchewan uniform on September 6th, 1987.
14. Who kicked this longest CFL field goal?

Answer: Dave Ridgway - Saskachewan

Yep, it was Ridgway. Culter once kicked a 59 yarder, Ruoff a 58 yarder, an Passaglia is a few yards from that.
15. Who leads the CFL in career sacks?

Answer: Grover Covington

Covington recorded 157 sacks while playing for Hamilton for 11 years, retiring in 1991.
16. What is the longest interception return in the CFL?

Answer: 120 yards

Neil Beaumont returned an interception for the BC Lions 120 yards on October 12th, 1963. Believe it or not, when the end zones were 25 yards deep, theoretically one could have gone 134 yards! You'd need oxygen after that one.
17. Which player below does not figure in the 'longest' punt return in CFL history?

Answer: Henry Williams

Although Henry 'Gizmo' Williams owns most of the CFL punt return records, Ken Hinton (BC September 24th, 1977) has the longest at 130 yards. Boyd Carter and Dave Mann combined for a 131 yard return on August 22nd, 1958 for Toronto, Carter going 15 yards before lateraling to Mann in the end zone who went the remaining 116!
18. Of the eight CFL teams in 2000, which has waited the longest to sip champagne out of the Grey Cup?

Answer: Saskatchewan

BC won in 2000 and 1994, Hamilton in 1999, Calgary in 1998 and 1992, Toronto in 1996-1997 and 1991, Baltimore (Montreal!) in 1995, and Edmonton in 1993, and Winnipeg in 1990. That leaves Saskatchewan which last lifted Earl Grey's Cup in 1989.
19. What was the lowest scoring Grey Cup game since 1954?

Answer: 9-8

Edmonton beat Montreal 9-8 in 1975 in the snow at McMahon Stadium, Calgary. Toronto beat Winnipeg 13-0 in 1950 and St. Hyacinthe beat Hamiton 7-6 in 1944 - there are other low scorers, but when Toronto beat Winnipeg 4-3 in 1937, that ranks as the lowest ever.
20. Who is the winningest coach in the 20th Century in the CFL?

Answer: Don Matthews

At the end of the 1999 season, Matthews had won 163 CFL games, 16 more than Frank Clair.
