Answer: HRH Prince Hendrik

The Netherlands had unsuccessfully applied for the 1916, 1920 and 1924 Games and were finally rewarded for their persistance! Queen Wilhelmina was on a state visit to Norway at the start of the Games, which were opened by her consort, Prince Hendrik.

Germany won 10 gold medals, Finland 8, Sweden 7 and The Netherlands 6.

Only five track and field events for women were held. They were the 100 metres, the 800 metres, the 4x100 metre relay, the high jump and the discus.

He was New Zealand's first Olympic champion. Vacha won the men's parallel bars in gymnastics and was the second ever Czech gold medallist after Bedrich Supcik in the 1924 Games rope climbing event.
