Diane figured since they were kissing last week (the last episode before this episode) that Sam wouldn't see other women. However, Sam figured since he and Diane weren't actually dating, nor did they go back to his place, he could date whoever he wanted to date.

Sam was going to fire Ken. However, when he met Ken's wife and children he couldn't bring himself to fire Ken so he gave him a raise instead.

Sam told him to try dating her. Sam then has the kids go sit on Woody's lap while he talks to Woody about his problem of not being able to fire Ken.
